I agree with you one hundred percent. I have often entered contests and then received some rather nasty reviews. I had Tom remove one reviewer's remarks because they were so nasty. I can't understand why this happens, but it is a bad thing.

I don't like feeling beat up after a review. Most of the reviews I receive are helpful and kind. I can honestly say now that my usual reviewers are wonderful. You did an excellent job with your commentary. Have a great evening. Shirley

Thank you Terry, for calling out writers who do vindictive reviews. I've gotten a few low rated and highly criticized reviews since I've been on this site, and won the contest anyway. I never noticed whether the reviewer was also in the contest. I may be clueless to evil deeds by some reviewers, but I'm happy, happy, happy here.

I do know what you mean though... I think I've entered 3 contests this year, maybe 4, but nothing in a little while. I don't know that they're really worth entering, I do like writing the challenges though. Those can be fun. I always like writing new forms. There have been a few lately that I've never seen before.

I'm totally with you on that, Terry. I do hate reviewers who try to cheat that way. They only show themselves up for what they are. I have seen several do this too. It is unprofessional
and poor sportsmanship on the part of any that stoop
to this level. Sometimes, I believe it's done just to throw
barbs at the authors.

Lol. I'm not sure what all this is about. I don't deal with the member-created contests often and when I enter, I have not had this situation which you have mentioned. Everyone has been kind and encouraging. I guess I live in my own bubble, one devoid of navel contemplation.

I cannot imagine putting another writer down who entered the same contest. Sounds kind of immature, sorry to read that it happens here. Hopefully people will not continue to do that. I do not enter many contests here due to lack of funds.
