You don't have to be related by blood to be a father raising a son or sons, love caring and compassion is what they need and it hurts just the same when a loved one passes away,

Short and sweet with new questions for Bob, ha. Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to where this is going. I loved the beautiful picture, as well. Keep it coming. No spags.

Ooh. That could be taken two ways. Either biologically he isn't the son or the viewpoint is drastically different. Either way you wove a seemingly peaceful tale and ended with a cliffhanger. Great job. Less is sometimes more. Gretchen

WOW! What a surprise ending. I thought you would go straight and you veered off the trail. Good job! I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Bob discovered he was not his father's son. (Ouch!!! Now was he adopted? I'm sorry but I need more information. It's not fair that you leave us hanging like this. LOL)
Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. You have most of the elements required for a story, well actually, all of them, but I want more. LOL Good luck with the contest. This is a very good write.

Wow, you are posting more this week than any time I can remember, and these flash pieces all end with a major pop. I just wish I'd known they were all coming and I was out of stars. Thanks for sharing.

Burning through some story ideas I have collected over time that have decided not to use for anything else, so might as well make them Flash pieces. Always appreciate you, your comments, and your reviews.

Well, Brett, as family secrets go, this must be a little bombshell to Bob's life. You leave us wondering what his reaction would be. A great flash for your book. All best, Ulla:)))

That would be a shocker if passing on family traditions was an important part of a family tradition. It might really shake the teminally ill grandfather. In time the initial shock of learning that might last a while, but If you'rer raising a son not being the biological father would be outwayed by the love and pride you feel for a son who doesn't share your DNA. Nice flash.

This is a great suspenseful flash fiction story. It left the cliffhanger at the end where it was supposed to be and did it in a very brief story.
This is well written and tells the tale in a well-done style of descriptive words that speak out to all the fathers and sons who learn who they really are at the last minute.
