You have a very interesting perspective of a cell phone in your poem. Where I live, there are no cell phone towers 5 miles outside of my closest town. You have to have a Plan B much like you did before cell phones. I do get the humor in your poem and I also appreciate it. I wish you well.

I absolutely laughed at this one...even though I am (gasp) likely one of the last on planet earth who has not given in to the technological wonder. I do not own a cell phone. (I KNOW!---It's quite amazing!)

Chuckles come my way every time I'm asked for my "cell #" and explain that I only have a "landline." (For many of those under thirty they seem not to know what in heaven's name I am referring to!

Oh, I'll give in eventually. I know ALL the conveniences it offers...and I can tell you if only for GPS, It'd be a huge help!

It's just that when I see a family at the park, say, and each of them is sitting around a picnic table with their faces glued to those phones, I want to cry.

MY grandkids know when they come to visit all electronic devices get put in my "technology basket" until they are ready to go home.

We talk! We play cards! We do totally "non-virtual" things!

Ah--those were the good old days.

(Watch: Next year this time I'll be crowing about how long I waited to join today's generation!)

Hold out for as long as you can. That will make the magic you discover when you do finally get one, all the more special.

I think of all of the money I've saved thus far. (We'll see how much longer I can last!) :)

Good luck, life has a nasty habit of forcing our hand in certain areas. It is pretty certain that cell phones are here to stay. It is only a matter of time for you Missy.

One word pf advice, don't let your wife read the last two lines. A divorce is much more costly than a new phone.
I must confess, I enjoy silliness and this really appealed to my sense of irreverence.

Thank you. She already knows this is just a joke and I am not even close t o being serious. A cell phone could never make me breakfast or cuddle and keep me warm on a cold night. My wife has cell phones beat in all the ways that are important to me.

Conversely, a phone doesn't yell at you, or recall all those mistakes you allegedly made years ago. And most importantly, it doesn't have a mother-in-law. Just joking, I think.

You sound as if you need a hug. Maybe your wife will relent and give you a big one.

This is a humorous tribute to an item that serves as the life-blood to many young people. A cell phone is how they communicate with one another, get their news, play games, listen to music, and much, much more. As an older adult, I have one because society says you need it. It DOES come in handy for research. Thanks for an afternoon smile.

This is the reality of today where we are all married to our phones to the detriment of direct communication with family and neighbours for bonding. Quite an interesting piece. Well penned, dear NOMI. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Lol.

I am with you. I panic if I can't see it or touch it. It connects me to instagram, my husband and children. I can Google the heck out of it. It is a lifeline. I am trying to set boundaries with it. Eating meals without it. Not checking it everytime it buzzes. Baby steps. Lol. This was a very timely and humorous poem. Thank you for posting. Gretchen

Ah poor Gretchen. You must cut the ties that are binding you to this device. Thank you for your interesting review comments.

The author's words made me smile all the way through the reading of
this poem. The author's words are humorous, descriptive and creative.
I pondered on cell phones, my son recently bought me an i phone! I like
it for texting and emergencies. I still like my landline phone better! The
poem flows and connects well. The artwork is awesome!

Hi,
This poem is true for so many people. It is so sad how technology has taken over our lives. Sometimes I think it is our version of George Orwell's Big Brother from "1984". It seems that we might be better off without cellphones and our ability to say what we want with no filters. I think often that it would be better if we all go back to life without cell phones and computers. I lived without them for a long time.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Thank you Joan. What you call for is a biter pill for many who have come to love and live for modern tech.

You?re welcome, Nomi. It may be a little easier for me, but I like Jake tech too.

I enjoyed reading this. It made me smile. "It may appear attached to my ear" reminded me that my dad calls my sister's phone an extension to her arm.

You have touched on a subject that I am fed up with. My cell phone has not been working for a few weeks, and I am considering throwing it in the lake.

Paul, do not destroy in haste, instead, replace. Modern Technology is great until it stops working, then it seems to be a torturous device from the Devil himself. Thank you for your review.
