A beautiful and haunting Tanka, An empty cabin, deteriorating and neglected, still holds memories of the past.
Well done.
I enjoyed reading.
Best wishes,
Mary

I would love to hear the stories this cabin remembers. Your poem mentions decaying debris and moribund memories. Yet, the cabin remembers. I had to look up the word moribund. I figured it had to deal with death. Thank you for increasing my vocabulary.

    I like some of the words based on latin because they are almost the same as Spanish. I like the way they sound, like ... moribundo = moribund
    Susurros = Susurrous
    Coqueta = Coquette

    Thank you very much for your time and kind review.

Hello Gypsy

Happy you have created a book of tanka poems. I'll browse at my leisure. It will be a treat for me.

I liked the imagery in this post. Many times relationships retain a degree of passion that can flare into life again.

The alliteration is effective. I particularly like "moribund memories".

Thanks for sharing your talent.

Blessings Julia

This was a wonderful tanka, Gypsy. The dual pictures were fantastic because they showed the abandoned cabin and the roses. Your words were great because they told the truth and they did it so well. Blessed be n hugs!!!

I like your modern Tanka poem / nice picture presentation of what appears to be an old frontier cabin- full of memories- coals -feeling -not dead yet after all this time -refuse to die- Paints a sad picture- good job!

There are a lot of death references in this poem from the dying fire cinders and the "decaying debris" and the almost dead memories. But the cabin somehow still remembers the ones who once lived there.
