All right! I have always wanted to fly. From now on, I'm keeping an eye on the sky for that magical quartet. Never too old to learn, or so they say. I wish you good luck in the contest.

    Thanks, Mary.
Once, when I was just out of college, I took flying lessons. Took 7 hours and the stalls just about did me in. Am embarrassed to say I didn't solo. Maybe you will!

I don't blame you a bit. I think I'll stick to flying in my dreams--I just spread my arms and take off. When I was young I couldn't land properly and often crashed and I also got tangled in the various telephone and electric wires strewn across my dreamscape. Now not only can I land--I fly right through those wires. Go figure... :)

This story is fine, but I think it would work better with brevity. I had lost attention by the middle and asked myself, how much longer is this? It's unfortunate, because there is something there that made me want to read it, but it needs to be trimmed down of all the fat and made punchier and will be a perfectly decent illustrated children's book.

This is a very sweet story, only slightly reminiscent (in its "if you believe, you can fly" mentality) of Peter Pan and Mary Poppins. I enjoyed the innocence of the story, as in how quickly the child was willing to believe, while the parents needed visible proof. I'm sure children would be happy to read a story in which the child is both the hero, and able to prove himself right and his parents wrong. Simultaneously, there's a charm to your story that parents would appreciate. Good luck in the contest.

Excellent entry for the contest! I especially liked how you showed the emphasis in this line: "ver-ry edge, and stopped." Clever way to do so. It reads very well and is well-suited for children and the contest. You've got a great chance at winning or placing, for sure!

Good luck in the contest!

What a joyous, uplifting read. A better children's story I have not read on this site. You really do have a great talent and a vivid imagination. You leave me no choice but to gift my six stars to you. Keep up the wonderful stories!
