I love how this fiesty little cat got her name. Though I'm a dog girl I really enjoyed reading about Blossom. How fortunate for you both to have shared all those years and climbing adventures together. I'm sure she has been a special comfort since your Desi passed. A lovely tribute story, good luck in the contest. Cheers

Thank you. I love most animals but cats have a special place in my heart. I rescued and re-homed a lot of cats over the years. Blossom was supposed to go to a new home too but I couldn't give her up.

This is very interesting. I think you have all the elements to win this tributes contest. You have a cat, with a nice name and full story behind the naming. You have a mini-cat adventure, where you had to rescue Blossom. and you have the right emotional content that will capture FanStory's unique demographic.

Well done.

Thank you. I hope you're right. Blossom deserves to win the contest whether I do or not. She is a unique individual.

Having had cats for many years, I enjoyed Blossom's story for her antics and the lesson you gleaned from her. 22 is old for a cat, but most of mine lived that long; my theory is that they were well cared for and, most of all, knew they were loved.
Best regards.
Mary

Thank you. I agree, if a cat is well cared for they do live long lives. I have five more cats with ages ranging from five to thirteen. The five-year-old was my last rescue. I intended to take him to animal rescue along with his two sisters. My husband was very ill and wanted to keep the kitten so it is still here today.

I had a number of cats; Devlin is my last cat. I was to foster him only as at the time, I had 4 others. I was going to foster him was 10 years ago.

Your cat sounds like she is courageous and a survivor and has also offered you some solace during her life. Twenty-two years is quite an age for a cat. A fine write, thank you for sharing your story, I was entertained, love Dolly x

Thank you. Blossom is an amazing old girl. Most of my cats live to be quite old, it is all in how they are cared for.

Hello Author,
I loved hearing about your Blossom. I had a cat named Tibby once who went up a tree and refused to come down. Tibby was a chicken when it came to climbing. She would go maybe as high as your waist before she came back down. Mind you, she was double pawed on all fours. She must have been chased up there by something though because she was two full stories up, as high as my roof, and not coming down... probably chased by a chipmunk or some other evil beast!
She stayed there for 2 nights, 3 days, meowing through a huge thunderstorm, driving rain... I called and called. Tree on a hill, no way to get to her. She finally did come down.
I really enjoyed your story. :)
Good luck with the contest!
Susan :)

Thank you, and thanks for sharing your Tibby story with me. I love most animals, but cats have a special place in my heart. I have rescued several over the years.

What a delightful story. It reminds of the first cat we ever owned, she was a very wild kitten, and I had to bring her home in a hessian sack. She was what we call a tortoiseshell, or a calico if you are American. She was bigger than any male cat we owned, and was incredibly athletic. Although desexed she raised 3 underage kittens until they were old enough to tend themselves, we fed them with an eye dropper, she lived till she was sixteen, but she was a wonderful acquisition. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you. There is a difference between a calico and a tortoiseshell. A calico is three colors, one of which is white. A tortoiseshell is a dark color, either gray or black, with orange markings. A tortoiseshell has no white markings. Thanks for sharing your cat story with me.

Not our cat, she had a white bib with white paws, we called her Soxy, she had orange black and brown besides.

I would bet your cat was a calico. Torties usually have no white markings of any kind. This was explained to me in detail when I called a show cat a calico.

A lovely story. Thanks to your writing, I loved Blossom. Your character details and description gave her personality and that was what made the story interesting. I am one of those people who think all animals of a particular species share certain characteristic, but basically they are all the same. Blossom was apparently not like that, she was more individual. Your story also illustrated how a pet can become a part of a family of people. The was a well done tribute to a beloved pet, good luck in the contest.

Thank you. I have six cats and each one has a unique personality of its own. They might have the same characterisics of their species, but have their own way of doing things and thinking. Thanks for the input and the good luck wishes.

Thank you for sharing this tribute to Blossom as a contest entry. I had a Whiskers who lived to be 21 years old. I think her and Blossom could have been litter mates. She was one feisty lady and didn't allow us to forget it. I enjoyed reading. Good luck with the contest.

You have written a wonderful story and excellent tribute Blossom. I think this is a very good entry for this contest, good luck. Given her age, Blossom has the benefit of good cat genes and care from a wonderful cat mom! Well done. Terry.

Thank you. Blossom has been one of my best friends for all these years. I would like to have genes like Blossom's. She has never been sick once in all her twenty-two years.

She is a beauty, and your tribute to her is lovely. You capture her story and yours, her personality, and the development of the relationship between you. She is e eeything a best friend should be.
