Hah, John!
This offering was a hoot to read!
Your chosen music certainly resonated with me.
Now... for your course of study... well, that would be interesting!
Congratulations on your 300 Milestone Post!
Thank you for sharing!

Congratulations on so many posts. This is a funny story with a great punch line. I've heard of so many truly weird fellowships being awarded, I could believe it is true. Thans for the giggle.

It was actually awarded at $556k, crazy, right?
Thank you for reading my posts, Carol. I appreciate it.

And was it for why monkeys throw feces? You can see the same thing in a mental institution. It's fun they say.

LOL...Congratulations on post number three hundred! I love that you decided to write a story using words for a poetry contest...LOL! Of course, the story proves you need to be in therapy. But let's hope that never happens because your writing is too much fun...and we don't want it messed with. Sorry, I am out 6s. This is exceptional. Terry.

Thank you, Terry. That was in fact a real grant, $556k, though the story is complete fiction.
I appreciate the fact you would reward this with a six.
Enjoy the weekend and happy writing.

Man oh man. Talk about the things that can make a man happy. I would never dream of even wanting to find out why monkeys do most of the weird things they do. Let alone applying for the chance to go and study this bizarre behavior. I suspect it somehow mirrors human behavior in some related way.

Man and monkey really do show a close association, frighteningly so at times.

OMG! This is just hysterical for this prompt. I wish prose could have been entered. The best entry, in my opinion. Congratulations on your award and please continue on with the celebration.
Love the song, by the way.

Janet, thank you for the great review and the thought of giving a six star holds value with me.

It's a poetic story, with a smile at the end. That's an accomplishment. Congrats. I enjoyed reading it and you did well, not only with the dialogue, but with the word count too. More showing than telling, in as few words as possible, I liked and appreciated that. Plus you used all the right words, dread, love, fellowship and frown, in such a natural way nothing seemed contrived. Nice job, even if you don't consider it poetry.

I guess at this stage in life we should celebrate every day that we can. I mean, we all know there can't be that many left. LOL. But we'll take whatever we can get. Thanks for sharing.

This is fun and light-hearted and I loved all the ways you used the designated words for the contest even though you have not written poetry but a humorous story instead.
This is delightful and I love Three Dog Night and their song Celebrate! This shows a chimpanzee so I was thrown off by thinking that the story was about a chimp but instead it was about the father in the family and how he won his fellowship.

This was a funny and enjoyable story. I was wondering why the daughter would dread asking about her father's celebration, but the description of the fellowship cleared that right up. It was a good use of upset expectations. The use of the required words was good. The repetition of the father's celebration interspersed throughout the story kept the mood light and cheerful. I liked it.
