What a wonderful tribute to both Zoe & Holly and their many musical artist friends. You mention Roy Orbison. The Canadian singer k.d. lang worked and studied with Roy - he was her mentor. She worshipped him. Do you know her work? If not, go to Youtube for her "Constant Craving", "Crying" and "Hallelujah".

I think it's a great essay that captures this sense of how music and songs can symbolize or represent so many moments in our lives. Love songs that we heard while we were in love, party songs that we heard when we were partying, sad songs we heard when we were sad. Hardly anybody who was alive in the early seventies and had a crush on somebody can think of that moment without that song 'Close to You" coming to mind. Nice little piece. Poignant. estory

What a wonderful musically tribute to the love of your life. I am glad it wrote itself and you chose to share it with us. The music will never die; it will keep the memories of your beloved wife alive forever. Evi

A moving and interesting account of a great marriage and a musical
friendship at the same time! The tone is bitter-sweet and will bring back many memories to readers!

-Lovely photo and story to go with it, Terry.
-I imagine Zoe was on your mind and might
have sent a signal to share the music the two of you loved.
-What better time to do it than Valentine's Day.
-I am glad you shared when the music began for the two of you.
-You went to a lot of concerts, too, plus driving around listening to the radio. It was definitely a big part of your lives. But I think the music at that time stayed with many of us of a similar era. It was classic and still is played today.
-You wrote a bittersweet ending to the story. The lyrics you shared
reminded me of the BeeGees song "Tragedy."
-Thanks for sharing this and hope you are doing well. You are missed on FS.

well, that's a very interesting story, full of music, with each of your different tastes. I'm sorry about your wife's death. She sounds like she was your real soul mate.
But Cuba? - were you hesitant to go? How was it?
Anyway, congratulations on all time best.

Hi Terry,
I sort of wish there had been more depth to this piece and more anecdotal tales around each of the songs and trips. I think that would have been quite a powerful write.
"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." Bob Marley
"Music softens the Heart." Burt Bacharach - both of these quotes need end punctuation after the artists' names.
"Long, long time ago. I can still remember how that music made me smile." The opening words of the classic song "American Pie" by Don Mclean- this is a misquote - 'A long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile'. if you're going to quote someone, make sure it's on point.
It starts really well and ends powerfully, I just wished for more meat in the middle.
All the best

Your story was stunning and the end gave me chills. You are an amazing storyteller. It was grand, reading about how you met Zoe and the grand times you had exploring music. I could relate to it so well as I love music and also play the piano.
The story was captivating and kept me on the edge of my chair. And then your music died when Zoe did not wake up. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I cried when I read this, as I lost many family members in the past years, including my mother and my father who died 3 days apart.
Amazing imagery. I am very impressed, and look forward to reading more of your work.

Hello Terry,
this was an outstanding piece. I loved reading about all the concerts that the two of you went to, and of course many of the songs you mentioned, I've also enjoyed. The only concert I've ever been to was Yanni at the Fox theatre in St. Louis five or six or maybe ten years ago. It was a gift from my family, as I'm a big fan. I'm so sorry the music stopped for you. It's tragic that soul mates don't pass together. It's never the same without the other. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom
