I understand this perfectly as I remember the day when my youngest went off to kindergarten. I counted the minutes until it was time to pick her up from school.
Well done
Blessings

Excellent. I love it. You presented our fickle, flighty selves masterfully.
Cute picture, by-the-way.
Imagine to tortured lives of homeschooling parents!
Best wishes.

The picture of your granddaughter carries a lot of positive weight for this entry. It is an easy read and brings several smiles. Thank you for writing this flash fiction piece.

Those dribble flash fiction pieces are hard, but you did an excellent job of capturing the first day of school from a parent's perspective. Well done, and best wishes in the contest.

I identify with every word of your story. When my last baby was born, we worked out a way for me to be a stay-at-mom. We had an 8 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. For five years, my days were focused on Denise; I tried to enjoy every thing I had missed with the first two. On her first day to kindergarten, i cried most of the day. The next day, I signed up with a temporary work agency and the next day I went back to work. I have not stopped yet and I am 79. It's been a good ride and I enjoyed reading your story. ann

This story was so cute! I don't have children myself, but I have seen my sister go through this. Thank you so much for sharing this amusing and well-written story, and best wishes to you.

-Very nice photo and story to go with it.
-It has been a long time since kindergarten in our house,
but I can still remember that special day.
-I like how you describe all the things Laurel's mother can do
since Laurel will be at kindergarten. A sense of freedom!
-But it only lasted 6 minutes and she misses her.
-Good wishes to Laurel when her first day of school arrives,
and good luck in the contest!

Cute picture of your granddaughter. I like your story and it is so true. Children grow up so fast, and though sometimes they can keep us on our toes, we do miss them when they head off to school.
