Seven words that can break a daughter's heart. Or a son's. A spouse... a sister, or brother. Dementia steals our loved ones away right before our eyes. I know, I lost my grandmom to Alzheimer's and as is often said, dementia is "the long goodbye." God bless you for caring for her, even as she became someone you could not recognize as your loving mom. It's very hurtful...

I'm so sorry for all that you have been through. What they say about dementia is true - you lose them twice - first the real person you loved, and then the physical being. Bless you for being there for you mother and putting up with the abuse while caring for her. Best wishes in the contest!

The author's words are heartfelt, sad, and creative. Thank you for the
author's notes - how very sad it is having this disease. I am so sorry for
your loss. Your kindness through this was admirable. This short poems
makes it clear of what Dementia can do. The artwork goes well with
the words and theme of this poem.

The sentences flow with clarity. It is interesting and impressive to read. I like how you structured this poem. Excellent work! No mistakes found in your poetry. Thank you for sharing! Nice work!

Dementia is a cruel thief indeed. I am glad you were able to separate your real mother from the "disease-speaking mother". Hopefully your memories will focus on who she was, and not bevtainted bybthe sadness of her final years. Best wishes for your entry.

Seven words is insufficient to understand the battle of dementia; however, you filled the void with your author's notes to have me agree for my wife and I had to bear the consequence of that dreaded disease with her mom.

This is a horrible poem. Sorry , it's well done but you know what I mean.

So sorry for your loss. Dementia and all-timers are thieves. They come and they steal leaving nothing.

Your poem expresses the love, pain, and sadness of this devastating disease. Dementia doesn't care who or how it hurts, or what it takes away. Thank you for focusing on this subject. Best wishes in the contest.

Dementia is a dreadful disease that gradually steals the person's brain. We are close to a cure. It would hurt like hell for her not to know who you were. And sometimes the anger and swearing is unbelievable. Now she is well and safe in His arms, waiting for you. She sees you.

That is terribly sad. There is no history of dementia in my family. Lots of lung disease but no alzheimer or dementia. I recently watched a video of a woman who was asking her father about his family. He proceeded to tell her about his daughter's. Had no idea who she was. So sad. It is really very cruel. A slow death. This was a wonderfully written poem and yet heart breaking. Gretchen
