I wrote a quatern a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorite forms! I just tried a metrical echo by Dolly. I love experimenting- and I can see you do, too! Great job.

Yes, I love playing around with the varied forms. I just read your Metrical Echo and you really did a good job with it. I think you and I both enjoy the fun of figuring out 'form poetry'. FreeVerse is a challenge for me. Thanks so much, June.

Clever! I hadn't heard of a Quatern before. I spotted (before reading your notes) what you had done with repeating that first line.

I liked that this was a story poem - that first of all he sought clarity without success, but when he prayed for strength, the solace came.

Nicely done, Melissa. It is tough to use that line four times, but you have done a good job of it. You have also done a really good job with the rhyme scheme.

Hello Paul. Thank you. I haven't written a Quatern in about two years. I thought I would take it out for a spin :)

My word that looks cold. You won't find those trees brackened at that time of year. The most you would get is brown, dead decomposing fronds of bracken. But in the summer that is when it might be overgrown with bracken on the ground up to about waist height.

Thanks Jim... the bracken sounded good at the time. LOL. I hadn't found my artwork at the time, so went with it. :)

Nicely written, contemplative quatern. The repeated line is effective in each stanza. I also like the rhyme and flow of the poem. The picture invites the reader in, as do your words. Well done.

Hello Carol. Thank you. I so appreciate your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have not written a Quatern for a very long time and thought I would dust off this form. :). Hugs!

I found this poem to be very soothing and well written. You did a beautiful job with the rhyme, even though rhyming was not essential. Keep writing and sharing with us. Patricia.

Great poem. Beautiful write, and the photo was perfect to create the imagery with your poem. Your word flow was perfect, and the rhyming pattern, great job with that. The photo made me think of my winters back home in Michigan. I live in Alabama, so we mostly don't get snow. If we do, it's gone withing a few hours. Thank you for your author's notes, because I didn't know what a quatern is. Thank you for sharing.

Your Quatern was nicely done, my friend. It speaks of our journey as we travel through life. We are always traveling the unknow and it is a narrow trail with many unexpected storms and trials. Yes, Well done. Nancy:)

Great start to February, Melissa. Your rhythm is perfect. It felt wonderful when I read it aloud. And there were so many layers of meaning. Storms are certainties for us all. It takes inner strength to face them. With your repeat line, the poem grows stronger each stanza, reaching a highlight in the last line.
That's what your poem is about to me. It is well crafted and beautiful.

It's just cold. It would be fine if I did not have to go out. But I do.

Such a beautifully penned poem in this form of a walk in the snow. You must be in the mood for idyllic settings. I feel the peace in this one all along the way. Magnificent!

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best for your writing endeavors, Sally XOs
