Wow, Dana is definitely a number, isn't she? Never once thinking about the consequences of her stealing it on Claire. I hope she is tempted to wear it during the actual tournament because I believe she'll be detected, eliminated and justly humiliated. Moving along nicely, Jim!

Thanks, Jay. Pretty good guesses, but there may be one or two surprises yet.

I don't think you were around for Part 1, so I'll give you a short sample of what Dana was like in 7th grade. This is narrated by Abby and takes place when she is sitting at lunch for the second day in a row with a boy who stutters:

It would have been a perfect lunch hour until Dana Padgett and some other "cool girls" came over to the table and sat down with us.

Dana said, "Hi Shabby. Looks like you've got a b-b-b-boyfriend now. Aren't you a cute couple?"

Fred jumped right in. "W-why don't you j-j-just leave, D-D-D-Dana."

"Good idea, F-F-F-Fred. I'm dying of boredom here listening to you get a sentence out. Let's g-g-g-go, girls," she said, getting up to leave. The others laughed as they got up too and followed her out.

She really is a nasty piece of work, folk who have little conscience are really dangerous in this already nasty work. But really if there iscacevicebto make one become a scratch golfer when they have a handicap that would be great, Beautifully written Jim, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. She's a menace alright. Let's see if there's any justice.

Dana has so much nastiness bred into her that she makes a great anti-hero. She also feels perfectly righteous stealing the suit from a child and then wearing it, if necessary, to defeat that child's mother in a golf tournament. Very good chapter.

No morals, no scruples. I don't remember if you came in during Part I, but she was a bad apple back then too. Here's a passage from Part I. Abby was eating lunch for the second day in a row with a boy named Fred who stuttered:

It would have been a perfect lunch hour until Dana Padgett and some other "cool girls" came over to the table and sat down with us.

Dana said, "Hi Shabby. Looks like you?ve got a b-b-b-boyfriend now. Aren?t you a cute couple?"

Fred jumped right in. "W-why don?t you j-j-just leave, D-D-D-Dana."

"Good idea, F-F-F-Fred. I?m dying of boredom here listening to you get a sentence out. Let?s g-g-g-go, girls," she said, getting up to leave. The others laughed as they got up too and followed her out.

59 years turned my Dana into someone who needs my help. She still doesn't listen to me, but she's kind. Dana may die a bad one.

So you think there's no hope for her? We'll see.

Dana is going to cheat. I am wondering what the baby powder a will do to the suit. I can't wait to find out. Thank you for sharing.

but it did help me to win some of them. (help me win some. I think it's a little smoother.)

So you think Dana will wear the suit during the tournament? We'll see.

Nice. I see Dana digging her own grave, little by little.

I think this chapter being shorter than most could've used an interjection with Abby since it spanned two weeks. Just so her disappointment, investigative work or re-fabrication of the suit was still in play. Just a thought...
Still, good writing.

This is wonderfully written. Have not been seeing every chapter but have a general idea from the different chapters I am able to review. Love the imagery and appreciate the recap to keep the readers up to speed. Thank you for sharing this.

Obviously, cheating would be within her wheelhouse, she stole the suit.
I hope it rains, and lightning strikes her down. Poor Claire. Whatever did she do to deserve a punishment.

That's funny about the rain. My wife said the same thing: that it should rain and short out the suit and make it go haywire with all her limbs twitching and flapping around!

Don't worry about Claire; the punishment won't be too bad :)
