Wayne...

Though I've only seen a few, your Ohmie/Blado characters are an interesting way to explore, or at least envision, the origins of many things, and how those breakthroughs might have been received or rejected by the status quo. I especially like how Ohmie is the innovative dreamer who is ahead of his time and pushing the limits of comfort zones and shared values. Well done.

Ohmie must have came up with every popular game we know of, and in reality, similar versions of all these games were invented and played long before these were patented under these names. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. The research only went as far as Wikipedia, such as that's worth.

I enjoyed this lighthearted story. The language used was authentic and the games described brought back memories. I'm sure one of them was snakes and ladders and I spotted scrabble and cluedo. A very clever way of one character - Ohmie - being the inventor of all games. Nicely done on this fun read.

Thank you for your very nice review.
My wife just informed me that Snakes and Ladders was the Canadian name for our Chutes and Ladders and that her Canadian friend had nightmares over the Snakes and Ladders game.

I like snakes and ladders. You can buy bigger boards now too so it makes it more fun, I think.

A fun read - and now I know that Ohmie thought up all these clever games!! Who knew? Love the informative notes as well! As we speak, my husband has a jigsaw puzzle spread out on the dining room table: the image is donuts. 1000 pieces, plus five extra pieces, no edges, all pieces are pretty much the same shape. Only three sorts of donuts! I hope he'll be finished before Christmas! Lol

I enjoyed reading all of the games as Ohmie considered what to call them. This was a fun read. Thank you for always sharing such fun, and best wishes to you.

This was a fun encounter with Ohmie thinking of all the games he could make. Blado sounds about as bright as he was in the Stone Age. Looking forward to the next Ohmie tale, maybe around King Arthur's table or out in space?

An interesting piece. We seldom think about how strange games might seem when they were first invented. Ohmie is turning into the odd duck who is always two steps ahead of the times. And it is compelling and telling of the human condition that his friends always try to redirect him.

The language is smattered with slang which makes era placement easy. The humor is very tongue-in-cheek. The dialogue is believable. The flow is good and the narrative stays on point.

Thanks for a good read.

This was a fun story, but you'd never get a Brit to have written it. We're all too busy either playing these wonderful inventions of our compatriots (I challenge you to hook a [UK spelling] scrabble upstream of an E already on the board, using all of A, I, O, U, D, Blank, Blank) or inventing new ones (at least one excellent British-conceived game is rolled out for the Christmas market each year for each of three age groups to cover the full spectrum of players...) me, did you ask? I'm currently working on a manual of illusions for young magicians, the secret is how to make it limited edition with the correct readership only. kay

Thank you for a fun review. Wow! It sounds like you have bitten off a huge chunk with your illusions manual. Good luck.

Nice job again. I believe I have read your work before. There are just a couple places =

"Oh, we're Jake. Daisy. She's the best, hotsy-totsy." - Oh, we're Jake, I can't figure that out. Could that be something like Oh, we're good, Jake. Maybe.

Down lower you wrote "Blado struggled with his armload, turning back to find a sack of sugar". Did he turn back to find a sack of sugar on the ground or did he turn back to buy a sack of sugar?

Yes. I tried to set this in the 1920s. Jake meant good.
sugar - I'll have to fix that. thanks.
And thank you for your very nice review.

What a cute and creative story this turned out to be. You included quite a few of the more popular games that used to be played. I think most folks play games on their computers or phones now.
