I have to say, I love this photo. Tiny baby fingers and toes always make my heart melt. And this 4-8-4 is a joy to read. ...the poetry of things to come. Yes, I can see the years flow by. The writing of expression on each milestone that builds, like a journal, a snap shot of growing life. A great short poem.

Without the pic this could be a romantic love poem; with it, it becomes something quite different - a mother reflecting on the birth of a child and its implications for the future. That's good - I like poems with alternative interpretations.
