Hello author, your poem illustrates a story that is heard too often. Cheaters come in all shapes and sizes--both male and female.
There are a couple of sayings that come to mind:
--Once a cheater, always a cheater
--If he will do it with you, he will do it to you.
(The cheater only thinks of himself.)
Your poem reads and flows well and has good rhyming couplets.
Your lines and verses tell the story of the darkest days of marriage.
Of special note:
You call it an addiction and you could not help yourself ?
But you helped yourself to others and you stored me on a shelf
(Excuses, excuses, excuses. I am sure that this person is cheating in many other areas of life, both personally and in their world of business.
It's all about what he/she can get away with and avoiding responsibility.)

This is a very sad situation when people cheat on their spouses. It's the only case when it clearly says in Scripture that divorce is allowed because the Lord knows the pain when His bride (the Church) has cheated on Him with the idols of Money, political figures, Power, instead of devotion to Him. Best wishes in the contest!

This is a very sad situation when people cheat on their spouses. Some who should leave can't get over the shock and the feeling that they gave it their all and that life isn't worth living without that person they gave it all to. I'm glad to know this isn't your marriage. It is an excellent depiction of what it must be like to be cheated on by an unfaithful husband. You managed to tell a clear story in meter and rhyme, and I think this is a good entry for this contest. Good luck.

Thank you Adonna, as always, you are one of the loveliest reviewers, and I can't thank you enough for your kind comments for this poem. This one one was a hard one for me as I had a good friend who just found out that her husband was cheating almost their whole 40 plus years and sadly she took her life over it. So I wrote this on with much anger in my heart.

This is a good social commentary. You describe the problem that is too prevalent these days. What makes people cheat? Many get bored and feel stifled in a relationship and want freedom.
Many get away with it for years with lies. Some get caught and it often ends a relationship.
Unfortunately, I think there is no cure for this. All we can only is wish.

A nicely done poem about marital cheating. All too common a problem everywhere in the world it seems. In Thailand, there is a phrase which I forget the Thai for called "Feeding the ducks" which is what angry Thai spouses do when they catch their cheating husbands....

In the last ten years, cheating has been a way of life here. The grass is always greener on the the other side.
Domestic violence too has become more than a slap. Women hide or put up with the bruises. Men can't do without satisfaction - women can. Not saying women don't cheat, they do. K xx
