Yes, I didn't figure that was a legit text, but wasn't sure it was Missy either, but now I'm getting worried, since I'm starting to feel like I'm getting to know your characters better. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I figured Miranda had a plan or at least would come
up with one quickly, Gretchen. You did a great job with
this informative chapter. It was intense and a bit scary.
I knew she would take Waylon since he was receiving the
texts from???? That led to this. . . who was sending those?
Was Dougie in on it, did Missy have his phone, or is Dougie
dead or being blackmailed by her? Your ending will certainly
make readers return to find out.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Miranda was right not to go home or met with Dougie. I do home she calls Mitch. This isn't at all good. I really like this story. It just gets better and better. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Is this Missy? And what has she done to Dougie, and where is Mitch, Missy is one awful bird, it's getting exciting right now, so you've got it at a very delicious juncture, well done Gretchen, blessings Roy

Wow! What an interesting diversion. They should call Mitch. This was a very dramatic chapter. Could it be anything to do with pulling the cars out of the pond or whatever? No spags.

Oh no! Very dramatic! Just as well she (presumably Missy) made a spelling error on his name, to give her the alert. But Dougie is in great danger too, if he is still alive. More soon please!

I'm glad she didn't go there. She has good instincts. She probably should have searched out Mitch. I wonder if it is Missy. Whoever it is I do believe they are up to no good calling her out at midnight. It is a good thing she has Waylon with her and he was not at the trailer alone.
Good cliffhanger, Gretchen. Nancy:)

This is getting damned interesting, Gretchen. It's definitely got the stench of Missie to it. But I can imagine Dougie sending her that last text, as well, despite what Waylon announced. I thought, before Miranda decided to go to her mother's, that it would be her cop boyfriend. He would have been my first choice. Anyway you cut it, though, I'm afraid Miranda has her hands full.

You've been prolific this week!! And now I'm out of sixes! Sorry about that. But this was excellent (and thank you for writing it so quickly so that I wouldn't be kept in the lurch very long.) [and then I 'reward' you with a five... Call me "Missy;" I earned it.]

I'm glad they got out of there. It definitely felt like a set-up.

So now, where's Dougie?! Did she incapacitate HIM, too?? Maybe HE's the one in the washing machine!!! OY!!! I'm glad they're at Miranda's mom. She's a tough old broad, and nobody should be crossing her if they know what's good for them. (But Missy thinks she's better than everyone, so that explains a lot.)

Is it time for Mitch to get called in to help? So many good points to ponder!! The sign of a good mystery/adventure novel is that it tends to one point then creates many more. You've certainly mastered THAT skill!!

Keep 'em coming!! I'm loving the progress!!
