I don't normally give 6 stars but you stay focused and organized. You have real pain and the reader can empathize with your struggles. You show self-doubt and awareness and that is rare. Most presume they are perfect.

What a great poem and story. You are definitely a writer and a great teacher. So many young people are intimidated by their school 's guidance and others as to what they want to do in life. You will spent a good chunk of your life at work some it something you like doing. You are a writer.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I've always strived to show my students that I am here for them so they don't feel hesitant to ask me questions or share concerns. They are my babies, and I make sure they know that and how much I care about them, which is why I get firm with them. Thank you again for reading and for your amazing compliments. I appreciate them so much! Take care. :D :D

Re the spacing. There is an icon which says "Delete formatting", and I think this will do it. Then you can manually do your own formatting. This seems to sometimes work for me.
I liked your writing, and especially the honesty and authenticity, along with your grit, courage and perseverance. You are making a difference, and you will continue to do so, with both your passions. Best wishes.
Wendy

This is a long free verse poem which shows you can all age groups. The repetition shows that mentors help you through and allow you to become a good teacher and also you encouraged yourself to follow your other dream that was in your blood.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Hi Ms Myers(((((((((,
I do believe we all hold at least one epic novel within each of our grasps. The experiences that lead us in a certain direction, ignites a passion, lights that fire within our bellies.

So, you've demonstrated that 'epic' is something you do very well. I love a good story in a poem... abbreviations and shortcuts, not so much. Especially as the poem is, let say a long one.

I love... A four-year-old mimics me, breaks apart words with her fingers. Reads on her own. I see the true passion you have for giving your students their opportunity to dream. I hear little voices saying... "thank you Ms Myers!"

I found this read a very pleasurable one... and seen as though it is biographical, very uplifting to join in with a small part of what makes you, you.

Yes, you are a writer, a composer of words, observations and thoughts... a very good one. I enjoyed reading this beautiful poem!

With our thoughts we create...
a connection to self.

Kind regards,
James.

When you first enter it use the advanced editor. I too am a teacher who longs to have a book with my name on the shelf. Good luck and keep writing.

This poem articulates the struggles we all have with self doubt and the doubts of others around us as we pursue our dreams. 'Can't do it," echoes and reechoes around us, but then there are these moments of success, the young students whose mastery of the world begins, the lost kids who are found, the kids supported. All the details in the telling of these little vignettes of life make the scenes come alive and we feel all those emotions and ups and downs bearing us up and pulling the rug from under our feet as it goes along. The echoing refrain of 'it's in your blood' keeps the whole movement grounded, rooted in a foundation, a faith in oneself. estory

I have read your stuff before and it is good. This is the same. It has a sad tone though. I thought it very sad at the beginning that everyone put down the English major. But, that's life. As the poem progressed it was evident that the important thing was be true to yourself. It was a nice read.

As an English teacher for 60 years, just retired, I loved the honesty of your poem. You convey the trials and tribulations but also the joys when children who need support thrive. The refrain works well in the context.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. Wow! 60 years. Oh, I hope one day to be there, too. That would put me well into my 90s, but who knows? I plan on teaching kids for as long as I can. Thank you again for reading. Take care--and thank you for all the years you gave to our kids. I'm sure their families appreciate you. Take care. :D :D
