This was a great list. You must have been an elementary school teacher. I loved the list, though most didn't apply to me since I taught high school. None ever asked me to tie their shoe. LOL!

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I am. The highest I've taught was 6th-8th grade and then some college-level essay editing. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

My wife would agree with all these points you've penned, and being her partner and spouse in life for over fifty years, I can likewise attest to this, she long retired but still teaches in a University of the third age, who boast many retired teachers, beautifully written, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Roy. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. It was fun revisiting my teacher's history and thinking about the repetitive moments. That's awesome that you and your wife have that experience. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

I think you are born to teach, just as nurses are born to nurse. It's in you. Teaching must be so rewarding when you see your students, of whatever age, leave your class knowing more than when they entered it. I loved all those hats you wear, it's similar to the hats a mum has to wear. Lol. Well done, Sandra xx

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Sandra. I appreciate it and your feedback. Yes, I feel like I was, too, even though it took me several years to figure that out. That is one of the many aspects I love about teaching. Lol. Funny you should mention that--I often joke that I'm a mother of several hundred kids and that teaching is good practice for my kids...if I ever have them. *Fingers crossed I do!* Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

Hi there,

I liked the passion that comes forth in this piece.

I have to admit though that many of these aren't specific to teaching. Anyone who works with children on a regular basis would fit in with these, also a lot of non-child orientated professions.

I'm not downgrading the teaching profession (I used to be one), it's difficult, it's time-consuming and it takes a lot of dedication but it's not the only profession that is.

It's a well-written piece and the point comes across well.

Most of those traits are like being a mother lol. I feel like that about my cousins kids. They are all grown up now but I still think of them as my babies. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing. Have a great day.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I feel like a mom, and I've even told friends that teaching has given me a glimpse into motherhood--though I know there's a lot more to it. One day I hope to experience it for real. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

You did a good job with your list, AM. Any teacher would agree
with all of your statements. I believe the number one would be
students calling teachers mom. Your list was comprehensive and
fun to read. I liked the formatting of it and the image.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had fun creating the list. That one is pretty high on the list, and it always cracks me up whenever my kids do it. It's so cute! Thank you again. Take care. :D :D

Awesome! There is no doubt you are not only a teacher, with a lot of experience, but a good one! As a parent, I would love to know my kids had such teachers. Thanks

And that, my dear, is why teaching is a calling, and not just another job.
I sometimes think that this is why teachers are paid so little... so that they really get the ones that truly feel the call to teach no matter what. Unfortunately, they aren't paying them enough to stay anymore, and now they know enough to know that they can't survive without better jobs than that. Now they just look somewhere else from the start and we get stuck with the bottom of the barrel more often than not.
Too sad. We need to pay more for the quality goods.
Susan :)

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. You and me both--teaching *is* my calling and passion. I felt like Jonah and ran from it for several years, but I couldn't escape it, and now I don't want to. If I even consider leaving this profession (and that's only in my weakest of weak moments), I think of the several hundreds of students I've worked with. I don't want to let them down. They deserve someone who cares about their education so that they can succeed and thrive. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

I enjoyed this more than I can even tell you. I know exactly what you're talking about because I've been there too. I have, for a long time, believed that teaching is a calling, and those who are not called, should not teach. I sense you have felt that calling and teach with love and passion and the sincere joy of seeing students thrive and succeed. It is wonderful to have teachers like you in our classrooms. I wish they were all that way. You also write very well. I recommend you continue to do both. Your students will give you much to write about.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. Yes, I believe teaching is a calling, and I have felt that calling deep in my marrow. I love where I am and can't even picture when I'm not a teacher (in the classroom) anymore. Thank you!!!! I appreciate those compliments, and I promise I'll continue both for as long as possible. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

I take my hat off to you . I have always said I could never be a teacher, a nurse or a waitress. I'm just not a people person. I have a friend who had been a teacher for thirty years. She has said almost verbatim what you posted. Very well thought out piece. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Gretchen

Thank you for reviewing, Gretchen. I appreciate it. Different professions require different skills. I used to believe it wasn't for me. Yet, life changed. I love that your friend and I have similar views on this. That's funny. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D
