Very well done, Steve. I can relate to it like few can. I lost my mother and father 3 days apart in January 2007, the same year I lost my uncle and third cousin. My closest living relative is my cousin Michael who lives in CA.
I drank Grief by the goblets, and it transformed me.
Brilliant as the rest of your work, Steve. You have high standards and it always impressed the perfectionist in me.

I haven't forgotten your Crown contest - I must get round to reserving a spot. Actually, I have been thinking about reviving the only Heroic Crown I've ever attempted, which is a rather light-hearted spoof. I'm going to put that out there in the hope that it might attract more attention to your contest...

There is mystery in this poem. It's not real clear who the speaker is and that makes it even more compelling. If the departed could speak, we would probably discover that they grieve as well. Nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Wonderful poetry, terribly sad but also evocative and powerful. What an emotionally charged piece of writing. I really enjoyed reading it but felt deep sorrow as I did not get the chance to say goodbye to my Dad.

nailed the poem. a short and sweet poem about seeing your love ones after they have died and passed on to the other world. It is very strange feeling seeing someone die - watching the lights go out as their souls leave their body.
