I found the first two lines tightly interconnected and focused. Unfortunately I fely that the last, whilst being a valid statement, moved off point slightly. kay

Thank you
Comment from Jesse James Doty
I love the title and I do think a lot about how I think and how it shows me what others think about what I think. This is profound and very telling as you say in your last pivotal line pride anchors, you sink. I am aware that foolish pride gets in the way of ponderous and wise thoughts so I often think before I do.

Good luck with the contest.

When you have pride, it takes away the kindness and goodness of a person. While pride causes us to filter out the evil, we see in ourselves, it also causes us to filter out God's goodness in others. Like your explanation.

I can relate to this writing. I was married to a close-minded man. If he said something was so, no power on earth would change his mind. I wish you worlds of luck in the contest.

Well oh my goodness, you said whole lot with just a few words. This is certainly a first place contender.
The presentation of art, mixed with your colorful font, are a homerun.
Swing batter!
Great work. Thank you for sharing your big brain!

You think that you know,
But do not know what you think
Pride anchors, You sink.
I get the sentiment behind these words, but I think... you mean excess of almost anything can be a bad thing. Pride by itself isn't an anchor that sinks you. You should have pride in many cases. Pride in yourself, your honor, your children and their accomplishments. Pride in your wife's love and her acts. Yes, even pride in one's country.

Agreed wholeheartedly with this! I hoped to convey the message through the fun word play of the first two lines that I was referring to close mindedness and someone who thinks they know everything, shutting any possibility out for no reason other than they know that they know. I appreciate this new perspective and agree that pride is a great thing in many forms! Appreciate the comment! Best to you!

I'm not too free with the sixth star, but your statement that pride anchors is profound. You followed it with the outcome - you sink. What a straightforward way to deliver that lesson. THe graphic was icing on the cake.
