For such a short sweet story, it was so much fun and so interesting right from the start. I don't normally give a six to such a short piece, but this was worth it's weight in gold. And I absolutely loved the wonderful ending. I didn't even plan on reading and reviewing, as I am so behind on my thank you's, as I was just going to fan you back. But I love chess so I had to read, and I adored it. So thank you for this lovely little masterpiece. You are not only a very good writer, it appears you are also a very good mother. My two favorite type of people!

Chess is difficult. Nothing like checkers. However, many parents like their children learning and playing chess. It dares the mind. Perhaps. Wonderful essay. Nice work :)

Thank you so much for the six star review! I prefer checkers, myself, but for some reason my son has latched onto chess. And you're right, I encourage it because it challenges him to think in different ways.
