well, I'll tell you something I'm quite sure you already know - you are one lucky gal! I don't know many who can say the same thing.
Sadly, in my group of friends, we are all widows and have been for many years. Men? what are they? just kidding. (sorta:)
Your poem is lovely and I can feel your feelings coming through - shining and true. very good!

Oh thank you so very much Katharine. Being together for over 50 years has us dreading the day that one of us will have to look at an empty chair. My condolences for the pain you already had to go through. I do know what your little comment meant when you say, Men? I may dread him leaving, and he really is as close to a prince as I could have ever found, but doesn't mean that he doesn't drive me crazy at times. He is just so over protective of me, and that isn't always very easy. ..... Thanks my friend for such a lovely review and kind comments. I appreciate it very much my friend.

very moving tribute to your man. the love you share for each other shines through the poem. I like the cursive font as well. Makes the poem seem more personal in some way.

How beautiful that your Dream came true! The author's words are
clear, interesting, descriptive and creative. Thank you for the song and
music it complimented this poem. I pondered on how a relationship as
this takes so much - as the author describes so well what is needed. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is awesome! Great Poem!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading about unconditional love a man and a woman share. It is real. Those who say it's not have not waited for the right person to come along. God will provide that person. Of course, God need to be in the center of the marriage. Good luck with this contest entry.

You chose a whimsical illustration with lovely colors. However, the squiggly font makes my eyes tired--even though it is well-spaced. The message is a wonderful tribute to the mate you have chosen.
I hope you have read it to him.
Best wishes.

I like the message that you once dreamed of a happily ever-after that took no effort, but the enduring contentment comes when both parties will work at the relationship. Congratulations on the longevity of your marriage.

Thanks Sarah for your kind words for my poem. I appreciate it very much. Due to your rating, could you please tell me what you didn't like or what your recommendations were to make it better? Thanks again my dear friend.

I'm never very good at saying things should be better, because it's down to the writer sometimes and their taste. For me, I might have categorised it differently. It came under Poems, but to me, it felt more like prose than poetry.

Sarah, I appreciate your response so much. I love good feedback, as that is what is all about. I have been told that about prose before, and the problem is I never intentionally have written prose because I am way too comfortable with what I do know. I still challenge myself to meter and rhythm and all what comes with that, but I need to pay more attention and learn more about prose. Thank you again so very much my dear friend.

I love the line about being together for 50 years. That takes a lot of love. My wife and I have been together for 46 years, and we're still here. Thank you, Father! What a wonderfully written poem. I wish I had a six for you.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

This is a wonderful tribute to your husband. Well spoken and beautifully said.

One suggestion:
As a little girl I dreamed, my prince would come someday

(I think it should be:
As a little girl, I dreamed my prince would come someday)

Just my two cents. I really liked this one!

Thanks Douglas! Sometimes l put commas according to the places that i want them to pause. And yet I do know the difference. So I did change it, But the ugly truth is that I am a comma queen. Lol. Sometimes they just go where I see they fit. JK...Thanks my awesome friend for the great review and giving me your 2 cents. It was just the right amount this time.
I do appreciate you catching me at my little sin. Haha!

This is a well written poem in rhyming couplets that shows what true love really is. It reminds us what we learn from previous relationships what a good relationship should be. It is good that you found your prince charming and that say that no love is perfect,
My one change would be change overprotective to protective. Overprotective has a bad connotation. It is almost always seen as bad.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Hahahahahaha! Joan, guess what? I love the guy but it is bad!! He is so overprotective of me that it drives me crazy. Lol, I had to give the guy one fault, right? My first poem on this site was called, I'm being held hostage. It was about covid. I am laughing because I know what you are saying, and I should be happy that he pays attention to me. And the contest is about what we want in a man. I may have to change it then. I hope you were able to laugh with me a little. Thanks my awesome friend for your kind comments about this poem, and the great feedback.
reply by dragonpoet on 17-Jan-2023
You are right that no man can be perfect. The fault shows he is human and not fantasy.
I think you are right about changing it to fit the contest.
