This tanka, Beach Horses, has the proper formatting and brings the wild horses into our consciousness with the positive possibilities of interaction.

I found this: (They) came like shadows

I'm a horse person, so this poem appeals to me. The picture is beautiful and adds a lot to your written words. Your poem is nicely written. I wish you the best in the contest.

Dear Pretty bluebirds. Thank you for your review and the five stars. I have always been a cat person, but just lately anything equine takes my fancy,

Cass,

A very nice Tanka you have penned for this contest entry. Many good images you have created in a few lines.

The first line should be "They" not "The" (sic).

Mark

P.S. Given your selected photo, I would change soil to shores in your second line? Then you will create the s-letter alliteration even more (-; IMHO your presentation value to other FS reviewers will improve if you bold your type face. Increasing the font size is another possibility.

Dear Mark, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Prior to your suggestions I have attempted to change my font size etc but it never seemed to work. My next effort I'll do in a heavier font, just to see if I like it.
However thanks for your input, Bloop

    Bloop,

To the left of the text box, toggle to advance mode and you will be able to make various font choices. Look for the omega sign above tge text box to use special characters. For all my posts, I use bold, 22 point type in a serif font. Most often I center my text lines, especially for my typical 5-7-5 posts.

I am unsure if horses don't have a greater need of care than children and they don't sass back. Now that my kids are grown and independent I likely wouldn't have traded either for a neigh.

Dear Tom, Now, now, I'm sure you are a loving parent with children who love you dearly. The one time I met wild horses on the beach was back in the 50s There were six of them and they
came around me in a circle. When they realized I had nothing to give them they peeled off and left in a line
of six. I'll never forget their sweet faces and wise eyes. It's a special memory one I take out and dust off every so often and then return it carefully to its special place in my
    mind. Bloop

Very nice poem. I enjoyed seeing the wild horses in NC. Your poem was easy to read and understand. Animals like their treats also. Have a great evening. Shirley

dear Shirley, thank you for your review and the five stars. This is a new kind of poetry for me. I find it appealing. so I may continue with this form of writing for a wee while. Animals do like their treats don't they? And they aren't backward in coming forward to get their share. Have a lovely day cheers
