Who is the fellow who is making an unexpected call about you? Could it be your dad? But your dad has passed, at least that's what you think .... like your story.

It looks like there is about to be a big turn in the near future, but sometimes in real life, we can't predict what will happen next. "Does whiskey talk?" Yeah, and many times too much. LOL. Thanks for sharing

Excellent conversation between Dusty and Brett. Brett doesn't care to talk about his father and suspects he's come to a bad end. Brett gives explanation for why he carries a knife. He is young to be on his own. I'm curious at the end of this about who Dusty is calling. Is this going to lead to something about Brett's father. Great chapter. You really bring out the emotions of both Dusty and Brett, although I'm concerned about why Dusty is so interest Brett, judi

I love this story, but it's sad for you at the time. It sounds like you're starting to encounter different circumstances. You did a great job as always. Shirley

This is very touching, Brett. Do you suppose the reason you were so emotional when leaving that day was because he was the first human being who cared a fig about you or your situation?
God Bless him and all those child advocates who try to make a difference. Well done. Nancy:)

Hello Brett,
Thanks for sharing some more of this story. I hate waiting. It appears that there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Did you really plan on returning to Hermitage Hall? I'm afraid that I'd catch the first truck heading out of town, but then, at twelve years old, there really isn't much good that could come from that. I'll try to be patient as I wait for the next episode. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I too was sorry Dusty didn't call him back and offer to look after him. He must have had connections , to be able to do a background check on a kid's records. Most would be confidential surely. I was surprised that you were planning to return to Hermitage Hall. Well written, an engaging but sad life story.

Sounds like Dusty is well connected. I like how you admit there was a connection between the two of you. A lot of kids would have high tailed it away. You were feeling the loss as you were leaving the restaurant. Good descriptive phrases in this. I could feel the emotion between y'all. Gretchen
