Very well composed.
Where did you get the picture from?
Your selections of background and font color are tops. .....................................................................................................................

Hello Gypsy Blue Rose,
You write such exquisitely
beauteous Japanese poetry
with much said with fewer
words. I hope your 1st week
of the New Year is fab.
Many blessings to you. ~

Beautiful. I love wild horses. They do refuse to conform. I sometimes think I have a bit of wild horse in me, lol. There is a beautiful wild horse sanctuary in South Dakota. I have bought beautiful gifts from their gift shop and sent support when I am able. BLACK HILLS WILD HORSE SANCTUARY.
THANK YOU for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I am wondering how many wild horses still exist today. I am betting not as many as there should be. It's a shame man has destroyed nature.

Always a great exhibit of work. I find it quite difficult to review works as this. Messages provided are really at the discretion of the writer and not one to be challenged by the reader. Unless form is off or a particular word is misplaced or misused for whatever reason, then these types of post should always receive at a minimum of five stars and if it hits a particular chord with the reader then it becomes 6.

Thank you very much for your excellent five stars review! I know what you mean. Most of all, Japanese poetry are visual, the imagery should connect to the reader. For English reviews, you can check if it's 17 syllables or less. If the first two lines connect grammatically, and there is a satori..last line should make you ponder, an aha! Moment.

    Happy and prosperous 2023.

Although I grew up in Nevada, I never saw a wild horse but heard a lot about them. I really like how much narrative you pack into this tanka. We wonder what stirred them so early and how they were able to elude the wranglers. Rod

Gypsy,
America's wild horses are very much a part of America's culture as Bald Eagles.
Your beautiful poem pays homage to them, and the freedom they cherish.
Beautiful work.
Blessings,
Cindy

This is a beautiful image, Marival. The horses refusing to give up their freedom.
Maybe I'll try to write a tanka for the competition myself.
Thanks for sharing.

Here's to the wild spirit in all of us! We will not be broken, we will not be penned... We will run wild and free and leave a trail of words behind us as a legacy of our indomitable spirit! Yes, big sister! I agree!
