I agree, it not even January yet and I'm already done with winter. I don't want to wait.

I think you constructed a very good poem. And I really like the consistent use of wait. Good luck in the contest.

notes:

Suddenly the sun comes out, it should be for this date

- what date? Should you add a month is this stanza, April

Thank you so much for another very kind review and comments for my poem. You were right about me not explaining when that line was supposed to have been, except it was after Mother's Day and before June. However I changed it and think it looks better. if you don't mind taking a fast look, I'd sure would like your opinion? I love getting that kind of feedback, as it gives another perspective, which to me is priceless. Thank you and it is so appreciated, my dear friend!

I spent the entire year of 1963, plus the first 6 months in 1964, at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
During that time I had the happy occasion of spending lots of time in Minneapolis, I even had a girlfriend there who thought that we were going to get married. I never actually proposed to her, you see she was sixteen and I was barely twenty one. To quote Sam Cooke, "She was too young to fall in love, and I was too young to know." I took one hard good look at the future and decided that neither one of us were ready. So, when my mother asked me to return home to Detroit to help out with expenses, I jumped on the first thing smoking and headed back home to Detroit and never looked back.

I loved that story!! Do you remember on my interview that we did, where I asked you, what gave you such wisdom and good choice making at such a young age? Well this was another example of thinking before leaping.
So you are also telling me that you saw what a Minnesota winter was like? Granted they aren't as bad as I talked about in my poem, but another four letter word for me is SNOW. We started early last week and had 16 inches of fluffy snow and -30 temps and the wind blowing caused a horrible blizzard with -70 windchill. So the kids are getting a long vacation out of it.
Truthfully I am happy wherever God wants me. And have been tremendously blessed when He led me here and put you in my life. I will always have a full heart because of it. Thank you God for Nolan!
So bare with me, for this fast little poem I'm going to write you.
(which I may use some of it in the real one, if it's any good)

Thank you God for giving me this awesome friend and brother
We both had different fathers and didn't have the same mother
I'm sure people may wonder and I'm sorry, but I don't care
I know him better than most folks, this man is something rare

His heart shows he loves others, our faith in God we can relate
He's honest, kind and caring; a loyal friend, who's pretty great
I'm planning something special for this special man's birthdate
It's not for a long four more months; for April 2nd I must "wait"

I like it. I truly think you should follow wherever your feelings, your heart takes you. If you do that you cannot go wrong. Whatever you write, I can promise you that I will love it, because I love you, and I love the fact that you love me. What can possibly be wrong with that? Two smart people getting smarter by the minute. :))

This is very nicely laid out. We mid-westerners are a hearty people who have not only learned to cope with old man winter, but we also play with him.

I was outside in a t-shirt today and I realized that if it ain't tickling zero then I don't worry about it to much. Good times and thanks for sharing!

I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my " waiting" poem. As much as those scenarios can happen, the severe ones are only about every four years. Yeah after -70 windchill last week, 30 feels pretty good. So where do you live Douglas? Monday we are expecting another snowstorm.....
    Thanks again my dear friend!

This work has reached the exceptional level

I enjoyed your craft so much I had to give you the whole hog
With an apple in it's mouth.
Your descriptions are captivating.
Loose a long debate.
And wait and wait and wait.
I like the repeating wait
It's like a hammer going down.
Not again!!!.
I'm freezing and it's only just above zero C.
:-))Z.

Thank you so much for your very kind review and words for my poem.
You have no idea how much I appreciate the whole hog. I'm a ham & bacon lover and how ironic that you reminded me of a song that you may be too young to remember. It goes like this:

Would you like to swing on a star, (yeah, six of them)
Carry moonbeams home in a jar?
You'd be better off than you are
Or would you like to be a pig?

Lol, that is the truth, I didn't make it up. Part of the lyrics..I hope you google that. Lol! Anyway, thank you for the apple too! They all go beautifully w the stars...They are all so appreciated, my dear friend! : )

I looked it up and really enjoyed it.
The wit is sharp and provocative.
    And holds firm today.
    Sharing is caring so
My favourite equilibrium restoring songs are
A lovely day by Bill Withers
    And always by Steve wonder
A genius song in my mind.
I either dance to it/ perish the sight
Or lie/ difficult and feel the words and vibration. :-))Z.

I do happen to love both of those songs and artists. Great taste in music and poetry? Lol...I give you a lot of credit for knowing what you like.

And I am very colorful, but not prejudice. I am a Christian first, but a bit of a rebel that doesn't mind dipping her toes across the line to see what I can get by with. However, I only do that when something is that important to me. One of my poems is called Wizard of Os. First it was wizard of US, pronounced us, but didn't want to be DQ'd so tamed it down a bunch. If you have a chance to read it, you may like it, unless you are a democrat. Lol.

You have such a long wait for a short summer, I think UK weather might be better? I like the emphasis on the word 'wait' which is key here! The meter gives a sense of urgency to the longing for warmth!

Hi Sarah, I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my "waiting" poem. Especially how you noticed that the meter rushes it a bit.
As much as those Winter scenarios can happen, the severe ones are only about every four years. Thanks again my dear friend!

Wonderful entry for the Bring Spring! writing prompt Contest. I like how you described all the seasons in Minnesota. It sounds like a very cold state. I live near Los Angeles, in Southern California. Our weather is warm year round except in winter when we get cooler weather, in the50s and 60s.
Good rhyme and meter.
Nice presentation. Good luck in the contest.

Hi Gypsy, I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my "waiting" poem. As much as those scenarios can happen, the severe ones are only about every four years. However 50s and 60s sound Heavenly right now. Last week after having -70 windchills w twenty inches of blizzard snow, this week we are at 30 and some people are running around in T-shirts and shorts. We are a Hardy bunch! At least I used to be. Lol!
    Thanks again my dear friend!

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I enjoyed reading. Putting up with the Texas heat usually year-round gets tiring. I like variety in my weather. LOL

That is a beautiful picture of the snow in the field behind your house. We don't usually get much snow at all here. I love the snow. I am thankful I live in Tennessee, even though where you live sounds pretty great too. Thank you for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

Hi, Debi, I can really relate to your poem!
We live in Central Wyoming, and the weather here is. like yours, unpredictable. We have at the most 4 months of good weather starting in June, and going through September. However, we have had snow in July. Sure, it melted and went away the next day, but..
Last year to save money, we built a greenhouse and raised all our vegetables, herbs, and flowers from seed. We planted them on June 15, after all frost was gone. On June 20 we had a hard frost that killed everything, so we had to buy plants from what was left in the nurseries.
Oh yes, I am using my imagination to visit Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Warm, and wonderful!
Thanks for sharing,
irish

Hi Irish, I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my
" waiting" poem. Also for the lovely six stars. We're starting out badly here. Last wk temps minus thirty, close to minus seventy windchill temp and when the wind blew, we had a blizzard. Now tomorrow supposed to be the same. As much as those scenarios can happen, the severe ones are only about every four years. Thanks again my dear friend!
