Hi Sharon,
This poem is well rhymed and flows as like a river in Spring. The artwork is beautiful. The smell of lilacs is one of the best parts of Spring.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Happy New Year.
Joan

Your springtime description of lilacs, leafy greens, birds singing, and waves of warm water, sound beautiful. Your poem is written so clearly it's easy to envision your delightful signs of spring. I wish you the best in the contest.

Beautiful Post. gets right to the heart of springtime, and of course, the choice of art and color is perfect. My favorite line is, " the gentle winds will soft, caress our skin." this is a tactile poem, and I feel every bit of it. Thank you.

Such a lovely descriptive piece. I got a strong image in my head of walking through a meadow and being overwhelmed by all the colors and scents as they wake up for spring from a cold winter. Always an amazing mind for poetry.

We sometimes have to look beyond the winter scene with hope that spring will arrive soon, especially in mid-winter when the snow never seems to shift in some places, a fine uplifting positive write about a hopeful early spring, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

You're not the only one with lilac dreams! I miss the beauty of my garden, the trilling of songbirds at dawn, the warmth and scents of spring. Just a few short months. meanwhile, I will sip hot cocoa and write...

What a glorious moving image and so perfect for your poem in it's dream of Springtime. "Water ways freed from an icy grip" shows such stunning use of words and imagery in your writing! It really makes Winter fell like it has everything in it's clutches of evil where as the gentle warmth of Spring winds and moving waters is the soothing balm after enduring the Winter ice. Just wonderful!!

This is a terrific poem about the promises of spring. It is very well-written with iambic pentameter. It flows beautifully and is very evocative of the joys of spring following the winter doldrums.

One small suggestion: If you change the fourth line of the fifth verse to be, "and all the wonders springtime surely holds." you will keep it iambic.

I really enjoyed this poem.

This is a beautifully written answer to the writing prompt. This poem draws the reader into spring and reminds us of the season of hope. The words you chose are great descriptions of transition. The lines are solid, and the resolve is strong. Well done.

Bring Spring?
A funny time of year for a contest on the Subject.
Hmmm...
....
"Battle for the Spring!"
Daffodils of Exceptional Yellows, yell out with trumpet but no defeat?
As Reddened tulips were ready but now lay their blooms down and bow.
The Tiger Lilies laugh out loud!
They state
'Tis there no warriors to be found?'
...
The Sky so Blue cry's out on woe, while all the Forget Me Nots.
Yes, were the real Foes!
Good luck with your contest Entry.
