Well matched text and illustration! The stark black and white suits the theme! The association with winter is also appropriate! Meets the rules of the contest.

A very creepy 5-7-5 verse. So I'd say it succeeds in its goal in covering a topic of horror. Well done. Stay in and stay safe and a very Merry Christmas to you.

This is certainly a horror poem as it makes me feel a bit queasy just reading it. I presume we are talking zombies here. The poem has the correct number of syllables per line for the contest and does read well as it is grammatically correct. The font adds to the sense of foreboding as well so good luck with it

I couldn't imagine what to write for this prompt. You did a magnificent job of painting a picture of a man who would incite horror. I see a skeleton dripping icicles.

I love the stories of vampires, zombies etc. I always wondered how these stories originated from, I know the vampire stories originated from Dracula, by Bram Stoker, but the zombie.ones I'm not sure. Well done, great entry, good luck, blessings Roy

The zombies are generally from Haitian voodoo, but I think the mid-century release of Night of the Living Dead brought them into the mainstream.

This poem was actually quite horrific! It's a ghastly image that you bring to life with your well-chosen words. Congratulations on making me uncomfortable. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thanks, Jessizero. I'm sure the graphic sold that feeling more than the wording.

Your 5-7-5 horror poem describes ME this morning as I shoveled snow when the wind chill was -35 degrees. I truly think the ZOMBIE metaphor is appropriate. Good luck in the contest. Rod

Thanks, Rod. I now imagine one of the walking dead with a snow shovel.
