Hi Pat,
I enjoyed your 60 word dash. It isn't easy to tell a story with so few words. The vicar found you hatless, a big change from morning worship where you always wore your hat. He didn't realize that you wore your hat to the Community Center luncheon, but had taken it off to eat! So you fooled him. I'm the same way... though a man, I am seldom without my ball cap.
Congratulations on the win. It's always nice to come out on top, isn't it? Doesn't happen for me much. LOL.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Well congrats on winning the contest. I just came across your post and found it comical. Why would one wear a hat in church?
I guess I'm a little bemused right about now.

Congrats once again.

Cheers. John

Congratulations!

Hats (like our facial expressions) often camouflage the actual person beneath. So maybe the vicar was opening a door, telling you he appreciated the uncluttered side of you as well.

Hugs, Carol

Did the vicar not like hats? At one time no woman would attend church without a hat but fashions change, you made me smile here, have a great day and congrats on your win, love Dolly x

This is a good 60-word dash entry. The story is clearly stated until the last few lines. Why is the speaker bemused by the vicar's comment? The text could be one or two sizes larger. A visual would enhance the presentation of your piece. Good luck in the contest.

Hats are fashionable. But if you wear them down on your face it will hide your face. Staring at someone because you don't know them is embarrassing. Good thing he said something.

This sixty-word story, Hatless, has the proper word count and gives an example of unexpected critiques for unknown offences which are neither eliminated nor were apt to be changed prior to the scene depicted

A curious incident which is capable of different interpretations! Did the vicar welcome having a better view of her face? Perhaps he liked meeting more informally?

You paint a full picture with just a few words. I imagine Father David was glad to see the real you, relaxed, and laid back. A hat can be so formal, though it does make one look sharply dressed.
