I'm always so sad to hear about little ones whose lives ended too soon. I like the dreamlike quality of the poem and the hope of reunion in heaven.
Had to stop by after reading Adonna's poem to wish you a very happy birthday!

A deeply moving post about loss of this little child. A conversation using imagery of nature to describe a spiritual longing to be reunited. The moment when you saw your Father cry for the first time resonates with me because it was also the first time for me when my father's mother died. Always so memorable. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Debbie

Wonderful imagery, a very sad piece. Was this based on a true story? I believe that it was, and that Abigail was one of your siblings. This evoked a lot of feelings, I liked this verse the best:
She smells of sun and flowers,
and of the Irish sea.
Very well written!

Thank you again, I was amazed at the response, have an "All Time Best," and a nomination for "Poem of the Month."
(Which I would never win.)

This is a moving poet. You have done an excellent piece describing the passion and love between father and daughter.
I am most impressed by, " I kneel, arms around her,
and hold her close to me."
What more can be warmer than having someone in your arms.
Thank you for sharing

This is hauntingly sad. You do a beautiful job with your meter and rhythm. I don't think anything is sadder than a child in a casket. Blessings to you.

Sad, sad story within a beautifully written, well-cadenced, rhyming poem. I also find the photo mesmerizing. You have done a super fine job with this. It left me with a lump in my throat.

This is a very well written, but very sad poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive words and very nice imagery from the art work you chose. I am so sorry for your loss! Blessings, Teri

A beautiful poem, expressed simply and with great feeling. The tone is one of love and respect and is certainly not sentimental! The emotion is all the more powerful because of the control!
