One hundred years is too much life for anyone to bear, author. To top it off Covid killing what life one has. I can see the tears rolling down. Maybe she is thinking, "At last I hear the angels sing." Thank you for sharing.

My mother-in-law (who I based. This story on) is now 101 and would probably agree with you. Many thanks for reading my story.
Comment from Mary Vigasin
I have to say I voted for this story. It hit home for many elderly trapped and isolated in nursing homes during Covid with little or no family contact.
Many even died either from Covid or from indequate care.
Very well-written and crafted
Best of luck in the contest.

Comment from Mario PIERRE
Very well written and has an ending full of sadness. But that was the reality not even a year ago. Covid has left its marks in many senior homes Nice story indeed

Thank you very much, Mario, for sharing and praising my story. Indeed, senior residences were often prisons just a year ago.

Such a sad story, one which has happened too frequently and is still happening. No happy ending. Well written. Best wishes for your entry.

For a hundred-word limit, I think you captured the essence of the contest. I may be more intuned with the story because I had covid only a few weeks ago. Your imagery and word choices are outstanding. Terry.

Ciao!
This packed a punch and was upsetting.
A reminder of how much pain, stress and anxiety covid restrictions caused. Elderly isolated in care age facilities and family members allowed to see their aging loved ones only from afar.
A true nightmare. So many elderly that died alone, children denied the possibility to be close, to say goodbye.

This one-hundred-word story, Imprisoned, has the proper word count and reminds the readers of all those poor families who had to endure their loved ones perishing alone frightened during the height of the pandemic. So sad.

In this brief and clearly written story your portray a woman of strength (her longevity), of faith (the rosary) and heart (the tears). Powerful story. Good luck.

Oh yes I can remember being in the depths of Covid, particularly fo those folk confined to a nursing home, with all the fear circulating, they were actually prisoners without an option, as were the loved ones. Beautifully written my friend, good luck, blessings Roy

Those residents unfortunately were indeed prisoners during Covid. Many thanks, Roy, for your kind praise.
