I suspect that what Ali is suspecting and feeling may be an attempted attack on her parents or maybe even her grandfather. I have been feeling that same instinctive feeling myself. Desperate people can be counted on to do desperate things. At this point I would not put anything past Griffin.

The story has lots of suspense. It is sad to think there is abuse out there like what you have written in your chapter. The ending gave us a question of, what is going to happen in the next chapter?

Good writing and editing. Your story is going, I'm sure, according to your, well drafted outline. Just a thought, no real problem:
Her bottom rib has a slight fracture. I want limited activity and no weight on that ankle. Bring her back in two weeks, and we'll see how she's healing." He handed Jorge a pill bottle. "Something for the pain."
-Small town or not. I have a hard time believing the doctor tell this stuff to Cord (not her husband) and give her prescription to Jorge. (all of this as if Ali - the adult patient isn't standing right there)

It seems Allen would not want to make the charges against him greater but maybe his evil won't allow him to not try something else. If Ali has a premonition something else is about to happen. I hope everyone will be prepared to defend her. Great story.
