I can't play the music now as Mom's asleep and I should get to sleeping soon even though it's 9:30. She falls asleep watching TV and then she wakes up at midnight and then takes a pill and wakes up at 5. I've not had a really full night's sleep since being here.
I didn't know the song so I couldn't sing to it. But I'm glad that Santa is keep his job. There's not the right kind of servant spirit in many of today's workers.

Merry Christmas my Beautiful Friend!! In the spirit of love and joy that Jesus brings to us on this remembrance of His birth. I wish you the joy of spending this day alone with your mother and may it be a day of remembering all the wonderful things that the two of you share and in the memories of your dad,
May this day be for you, exactly what God wants it to be in knowing that it may be your last time to have a Joyous Christmas alone together. Ask her to tell you things about yourself and the two of you from your youth and childhood.
And you tell her about the greatest moments you remember as a child.
I don't mean to make this to sound like a lecture, but as a friend wanting to find a way to help my friends, who are away from their family's, with a little extra peace today. You are my first of four visits, with Jan being another, Actually if I had the time, I would write a story about helping others find Joy who maybe away from loved ones. But I am not a story teller and today is a busy one for me. After all, I am a little slower, as I need to walk into my bathroom and go take my shower. Then I will walk all by myself to go get ready to go to my daughter's home. And "Walk into your heart" and tell you thank you for all the prayers that are making my dream of walking by myself by Christmas a success!!!
May He bless this day and make it one of the most wonderful Christmas's that you remember. I love you and will treasure the friendship forever that we have made. God Bless you today and always and have a very Merry Christmas today and tomorrow. New Years virtually, cha cha cha, you, Sally and me!!!

I so appreciate your encouragement, Debi and your prayers! I will focus on the Lord and being with my mom this year. Hope we can convince her to move in with us. First, we have to find a place! I love imagining you dance with Glen! 💖💖💖🙏🎵

Oh Evi, thank you so much for the lovely review and words. I placed third in this contest, but always happy with any placing. And also I appreciate the sweet Christmas gift of six stars! How did you know that is what I wanted?? Lol... Sorry, couldn't resist using that for my thanks. However everyone I know here thinks it's Christmas every time they get a wonderful review and comments like yours. Thanks so much Evi.
Merry Christmas to you and yours! Lotsa love you too, my Precious friend!! Debi

This takes me back to the 1960s when I started writing lyrics to existing tunes. As a matter of fact that is how I started writing. I had recently learned the regulation three chords on the guitar and being stuck in the middle east at the time soon ran out of material. I had plenty of tunes but few lyrics, so the answer was to write my own.
These lyrics fit your selected tune easily and that is the main thing. Seasonal and amusing, what more could we want?

Thanks Pantygynt for the great review and thoughtful comments.
I loved hearing how you started, that got you to where you are with your great writing. Yes, I know you probably better than you know me.
My problem with this piece was that I didn't decided to keep my reservation for it until 9AM and the deadline was noon. And if you don't mind I'd like to tell you my recipe for writing. (I make it, let it simmer, check and stir it every once in a while, keep coming back and season it, stir some more until I am completely happy and I feel it is ready to serve) Well I didn't have the time, so I served when fresh and kept following my recipe, but it really wasn't ready until the next day. Y'now what I mean? And this was harder because I wasn't starting from scratch, I was workin with the great Billy Joel's classic. So the first to review it didn't see the finished product.
So to stay in his syllable count and use the same 2 & 3 syllable words in the right place was more work. For me it is easy on a fresh write because I do it often. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hehehehehe!
Thank you again my wonderful friend. Lotsa love and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Debi

Thanks for those details. I like to return and return, rewrite and rewrite too.

That's a woman for you. Have to turn a writing process into a recipe. Lol!

Hi Debi, this was a great rewrite. It was fun and well written. Very creative. I wouldn't even know how to begin to rewrite the lyrics. Well done and a Merry Christmas. Hugs, Ulla xx

Great work on this and one of my favorite songs. I think this is a very creative piece of work.
I was very surprised that it didn't place, but you never can tell with FS voters.
This was very well done. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Debi, great remake of the song. I especially liked:
What's the matter with the clothes I'm wearin'
So you don't like the color of red
(I think that you know why I like the above--some people don't like the color red to be worn outside of the house. Lol.)
I also liked:
And a few thousand rolls of tape
(It wouldn't be Xmas without going through a few thousand rolls of
tape--most of them lost in the midst of the wrapping paper.)
A fun poem. Billy Joel, another NY boy, so you know, it's gotta be good.
Well done. Great photo. A pleasure to read. Xo. M

Great job on this prompt, Debi, and you clearly had a lot of fun working this one out! It helps that I'm old enough to remember this song when it first came out - 1980 according to Wikipedia!
Thanks for sharing this and good luck in the contest.

Awe, thank you Steve. You are always so darn sweet. And yes, Billy Joel is one of my faves anyway, so for me anyway, just coming up with the idea is the hardest part. But you made it all worth it with your fun comments. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you and yours! And thanks again my dear friend.
