I'm glad I read this poem of yours about pot holes...im from Michigan and this is the first time I ever thought to mention we are not the pot hole capitol of the world. Other people got it bad also. Besides that truth ...it was a very good read. Thanks for sharing.

Earl,
Being a Pennsylvania gal, I appreciated your words in the poem. We have potholes in town that get fixed, and in six months, they're deep again, ruining cars, etc.
Congratulations on your well-deserved ranking, Earl.
I hope you have a great new year full of good health and happiness.
Blessings,
Cindy

Thank you very much Cindy. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my poem. Where in PA? Sorry it took so long to respond.

Hi, Earl.
I live in Northwest PA, Earl. Lots of deer and rednecks. Lol. It?s cold and dreary here most of the winter.
Have a really nice week.

I live in Elk County. It?s a beautiful area, but not much to do. I like the quiet.

That's a great takeoff on the original song, well written and humorous. I think that John Denver would have liked it. Best of luck in the contest. Evi

Good morning, Earl
Your song definitely fits John Denver, but Darius Rucker's Wagon Wheel came to mind as well. Well done and I wish you the best in the contest.

This takes me back to the start of my writing career because writing parody or pastiche if you prefer it is how I started. This fits the John Denver version generally very well though I got a bit lost around the 'Disillusioned mama' bit. Never mind though you have given a great song a new home with those potholled roads.

This takes me back to my childhood! My dad loved John Denver! I great attempt. I like the potholed road take on the country road. I think I would have liked more rhymes at stanza ends as the original does well. A few little typos Pennsylvania is spelt 3 different ways and last disillusioned misspelled. Best wishes for contest!

Boy, oh boy, this is the second posting with a popular song as its inspiration. I love the song you had in your mind and you did a fabulous job with this creation.
Potholed roads is hilarious and I must give a special shout out to 'Disillusioned mama.' What a hoot!
Of course the theme of this work is sad, but you presented this message in such an entertaining way. Hugs, Lilly

Good job Earl. This contest was too hard for me but I'm enjoying reviewing the talented poets that decided to take it on. I tried to karaoke this using your words and while I'm no John Denver, I think I did it justice. Wishing all the best,
John
