Crawfish. Are they fresh water crays? We have them in the rivers, sort of mini lobsters. What fun you and dad had with your cane poles fishing them out for tucker. Must have needed a lot for a meal?

Yes, they?re the mini lobsters of the southern US. Crayfish or crawdad. Good to know you have them down under as well!

They burrow in the river bank mud. I would rather throw a prawn on the barbie! Hee, Hee.

I'm not sure your crawdads are the same as mine: They looked like tiny lobsters, about one to two inches long, but they were good eating! Taking care we weren't "pinched by them," we used to catch them with our hands.
Your work is a great memory poem, with smooth rhyme that elicits many memories for me.

I'm not sure your crawdads are the same as mine: They looked like tiny lobsters, about one to two inches long, but they were good eating! Taking care we weren't "pinched by them," we used to catch them with our hands.
