Nice alternative. Just depends on you, or maybe who is passing by you might want to pelt with you wet cold ball of snow. Of course, if it is a granddaughter you might want to let the snowman come to life.

Once the ball is in your hand, the decision becomes one of instant gratification over resolute purpose. : )

What a fabulous 5-7-5! I particularly love how we can view life through different lens. The poem makes us consider the creators' possibilities: something to nurture or something to throw. I guess we have choices and possibilities and we may even be handed the same "object" or resources as another bugs what we make can be very different things. So cleverly constructed leaving the reader to question and wonder!

If you chuck that snow baby, say a prayer.
I used to be a college ballplayer.
Close doesn't count in a snowball battle.
Speed and accuracy can make your teeth rattle.

The targeting of snowball throwing is always the face. One head shot is worth a hundred to the body. The secret to building a snowman is to be in an environment of children, where the threat of incoming missiles is comparable to incoming feather tickling.

Well, Bill, you can be assured that I won't get in
your way of the projectile. I enjoyed your fun contest
entry. Good job with the correct syllable count per line.
The art choice was a great pairing with your words.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

This is so delightful, fun and creative. I am looking out the window at the first snow we had in the Northeast totally different now.
So perfectly done.
Best wishes
Mary

Hi Bill - You raise an interesting philosophical question in this 5 - 7 - 5 poem. Not sure that most kids thinking about while they are playing; however, it can clearly be a like changing decision. Stay warm - Jerry

One of the very things about living in Southern California is, there is almost a zero percent chance of my being hit with a snow ball. There is almost a one hundred percent chance that the only snowman I will ever see will be via photo or televised image. I do not miss any of the things that accompany life in the frozen Northwest.

The worst traffic in Lansing is like a slow day just about anywhere in Cali.

I enjoy this 5/7/5 poem. Yes. It's both. My son is very good at snowball fight. I can't. My husband is wishing our son is here. The sticky snow here is great for snowball fight.

Excellent and good luck.
