Thank you so much Santha. It is a little hard to stay with rhythm and meter in these type of poems but it was fun to do. You are so sweet and I appreciate your kind words so very much. Thank you again my very dear friend.

Wow! Super clever to riff on "Twas The Night Before Christmas" classic! Great meter, awesome rhyme-- but that's you in a nutshell!

Amazing what a year it's been.

Here you are! The brightest star on the tree!

Your quip about Glen cracked me up!

I see a winner's circle in your future!

This is a lovely rundown of your past year Debi, and so different from my life in tropical North Queensland. I can't imagine 40 below weather conditions, though I have seen the fish huts on tele. A great entry for the Christmas Card newsletter. Cheers

Thank you for sharing this Christmas newsletter contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading. You had such a year. You didn't need to pack everything into only one year. You could have spread it out over a few years. LOL Good luck with the contest.

Thanks so much Barb, for such a lovely review and your kind words for my Christmas Newsletter poem. Actually, I consider this year a very rewarding year. I will finally walk again, all of my family is healthy now and my lupus and kidney disease are doing ok. Plus I have the best bunch of online friends and second family here on FS and I am so blessed. You are so sweet and I appreciate your kindness more than you could possibly know, my dear friend.

Your contest entry was awesome, Debi. I loved the way you
organized it and used The Night Before Christmas for inspiration
and a few lines. The organization allowed readers (and recipients
of the letter) to understand the progression of the daily lives of
you and your family. The rhymes worked well, and the flow was
smooth. I liked how each month you included information that
was interesting and not just run of the mill bragging about family.
I believed this letter would be referred to several times to 'relive'
with you what your family experienced the past year. It was more
than entertaining--there was info about family, fun, health issues,
and a sincere holiday greeting for Christmas and the coming year.
The picture was beautiful. Including it with the names and ages
made it easy for readers to attach a name to the events of each
month.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Definitely the most unique one I have seen so far! You have had a busy (and a little bit crazy, I must say) year. Thanks so much for sharing, and good luck in the contest.

Wow!! What a great idea to use the structure of the "Night Before Christmas" poem to recount the whole year and all that the family did. And wow, you've been through so much but you kept it so lighthearted.

Clara was the one who had her confirmation this year, right? I didn't know that she broke her arm and hand! Hope she's completely healed now!

And I'm excited about your book! So glad you're here and able to share and keep using your gifts of creativity to bless others! Thankful for you!!

Comments/Suggestions:

And yes, Clara was the one who was confirmed and she and her dad were on their dune buggy when she hit something, and it flew into the air and landed on top of her. So she has been playing basketball since second grade and they say that she needs surgery on it and will probably never be good enough to play at a high school level again. The worst part was, they were banking on her getting a scholarship for college. But God had a different plan for her.
reply by lyenochka on 05-Dec-2022
That's so disappointing. I like your accepting attitude about another possible plan that God has for her. But also she could prove those doctors wrong...

What a great entry, Debit, for the contest. You have done a great job of summarizing your year in verse. I know it has not been an easy year for you and your family, and I trust 2023 will be better. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Hi Debi,
I like this rhyming Christmas letter. It shows all the main points of what happened while infusing lines from "The Night Before Christmas" poem.
The family picture of the kids is good.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Merry Christmas.
Joan
