Poet Marquette has written a "Night Before Christmas" rewrite to serve as a family update in poetry. And, it beats the drossier (dross, junk; drossy, junky; drossier, more junky; prose events many of us receive. It's a celebration of a family's year, with acknowledgements to some suffering and disappointments here and there. Ms. Marquette honors, by and large, the metrics of the original poem, and is innovative in pursuing rhymes for a large number of couplets.

What a busy year it has been and filled with many ups and downs. It seems that's the standard equation for most lives these days. Covid tossed a big wrench in the mix, for sure. I loved the last line the best of course.

I adore your super creative structure of this poem based on the rhyme pattern and inspiration of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and then you unravel into your own family Christmas letter of events and happenings. How great would every family Christmas letter be in rhyme? A few little rhythmic bumps along the way but I think they can be forgiven in the scheme of what is a fun presentation and representation of a whole year in rhyme!

Hi Karyn, thank you so much for the lovely words for my Newsletter poem. As much as a stickler as I am with my rhythm and meter, I cut my words down to where they almost made no sense. So it really is hard to try to tell about something like this without there being a few bumps, I really agree with you, and hope that for the most part, it is ok. I do appreciate feedback so very much, my sweet friend. Are you new here? I thought I read in the forum that you were. If so, I welcome you to our wonderful group of authors.
