You have some good examples of metaphors that will draw the reader in The personification will help the reader to identify, as the viscerally experience the emotional pain. Well done, a good topic.

Oh, come on Mia... if you think you're the only woman who's faked a giggle, a laugh, a smile, a "Honey! I love it!" not to mention faking the bedroom things... then you're out of your tree. Men have the most fragile egos on the entire planet. They must be coddled like a thin-shelled egg lest they shatter. They say we're fragile? My last boyfriend was so taken with himself he was pissed when I took all the mirrors down in my house after I lost my sister. (I kept seeing her face in them... we looked so alike.) The man could drown in a puddle. I don't give a crap what I look like. lol
In short, don't lie if you don't have to... but go ahead and stroke the ego. They really do need it. We all do eventually.
Susan :)

I don't know how old you are, Mia, but I've given up on the species. After the last one, I called it quits at 57.

"Forced Giggle"
This is a 15 Syllable Contest Entry. .
A Mezsage to Bewars those whom ask in false tongues
(Like many politicians seeking office)
...
Sadly, after all the Smutt commercials we don't know what to do?
Just hide our heads in our hands?
Never to truly understand?
Good luck with your contest entry and we'll posted.

sad, sad.
But meaningfully written in a brief,15 syllable poem that actually says a lot about the writer, or a protagonist, and some possibilities about her, such as being hurt by someone, being shy and possibly afraid to confront, probably a lonely soul, or just a good reaction of an inward soul.
My take on it :)

That is a wonderful take on it. There were so many times in my youth I had to force a smile just to fit in or be seen.

Yes, girls can be pretty mean, especially if they're in a clique. (catty)

A forced smile is not hard to catch, but I didn't know it was due to cracks. I guess I will be more sensitive the next time I get one of those. Nice poem and great picture to add character to it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I know there have been a lot of times I had to smile when it really wasn't in me.

I guess the falsities of "appearance" are always disturbing, the fact that people don't want to be "exposed" is they don't like themselves, or they have an agenda, either way, it's not good, good entry, good luck, blessings Roy

Sometimes women who have botox cannot smile or laugh as the muscles are frozen! Ha ha ha. Hiding those wrinkles underneath has become a mammoth task, a fun write, love Dolly x

This is a good poem. The text is a great size. The message is clearly stated. It is often that folks hide behind a fake smile or laugh. I liked that the word hide is smaller than the other text giving a visual representation of being not seen as well. The visual of Hali Berry is okay. A more unrecognizable person probably would be better. We expect actors to act fake at times. Good luck in the contest.
