This is a fun, delightful poem-just like the person you are. I appreciated your lovely, loving note. You're one of the reasons I decided to sign up for another year at FanStory. You're a beautiful Christian witness here and a personal favorite of mine!

Thanks Verna, if it was possible to be any sweeter or more lovely than you, then I would wonder how you get dressed every day with those Angel wings you wear so graciously! I think you know exactly how I have always felt about you. You are truly a sister in Christ ! And I am so honored that I have you for a dear beloved friend and would have been lost here without you.
    Love you Sweet girlfriend!
Thank you for such a lovely review of this poem. This is a very old classic that airs every year about a boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas and it is hilarious. Thanks so much my sweet friend, for your kind comments for my poem.

Holy smoke, Batman. Are we really that old? Red Ryder b-b gun? I got a pellet gun for Christmas once, and by the end of the day had dropped it in a creek never to be found again.

Thanks for such a great review of this poem. All boys should get their own new BB gun. Even those that might be pretty irresponsible the first day. Haha! Sorry, couldn't resist! I do love this old classic that airs every year at Christmas and it is hilarious. Thanks for your fun comments for my poem, I mean about your gun. Haha!

This is a perfect example of what runs 24/7 on television channels this time of year.
Syllable count is exact.
I really got a smile out of this. Great work!

Thank you so much Jennifer for such a glowing review and comments for this poem. It has been a tradition in my family that it runs the entire Eve of Christmas, which is when we get together as a family. So it only feels right to pay tribute to it during the holidays. Thank you again my dear friend.

Well written and the Christmas colors and picture are all perfect for this 5/7/5 contest. I love that movie, and it goes on in my house as soon as I get up on Christmas morning. We used to let it run all day, whether anyone was watching or not.

Hope you are feeling better - I see you're thinking of the holidays!

Thank you so much Pam, for such a glowing review and comments for this poem. It has been a tradition in my family that it runs the entire Eve of Christmas, which is when we get together as a family. Hmm, not surprising that my virtual twin would do the same, the day of Christmas! So it only feels right to pay tribute to it during the holidays. For both of us! Lol!
Thank you again my dear friend. Hey Pam I almost forgot to tell you that I am now walking with a Walker when doing therapy. I'm back on track Sweetie!
reply by Pam Lonsdale on 30-Nov-2022
Getting ready for that first race. You could walk a 5K, I'll do it with you! It'll give me a reason to visit my son too:-)

Pam, I am so excited to do things I have not done for so long. I would have to check with my doctors, and train in the Spring, but maybe by the Fall or a year from Spring, I would be ready to try it. I am serious. I would love to do that with you. However I would not want to slow you down, so you would have to promise to go on and not worry about me. I just would love to try it. I used to make sure I always got my 10,000 steps in a day, but never did it all at once before. So if you are serious, I will have to walk good before I can start training. I suppose I should walk on my own first too. Lol

Oh, I'm serious, and I would be honored to walk with you.

What a movie. Perfect submission for the season. It reminds me to look this one up in the annals of television somewhere and watch it again. Gotta watch those BB guns! And Ralphie was indeed a classic.

Great job Debi. So good to be able to read you again.

Oh thanks Gary for being so wonderfully kind about this poem. Not everyone has been. So I appreciate it so very much. I understand how people feel about guns, but they aren't all created equal. I think I need to write a story about the difference of a young boy being raised by responsible parents and respect for guns is such a gift to our youth. The guns that kill are usually the ones we don't give to our kids, don't teach them respect and being liable and learn right so they can grow up and hunt responsibly. I can't imagine what any of my grand children would do without hunting and fishing in our rural MN area with 0% crime. So thanks for letting me vent just a little and now get back to why I think this Classic was so much fun. Because every red blooded American boy, and some of us girls all couldn't wait for our first gun, a BB gun. Thanks Gary; you made my day with your glowing six stars and the best comments. Thanks for letting me vent a little bit about the negatives. I'm not angry just a little sad that it had to be brought up during a fun poem. Most have been great and nobody was rude, but it's a movie. So thanks again my dear dear friend!

LoL. I like your 5-7-5, it's funny. Good syllables count and connection between lines. I love the presentation. Goodluck in the contest.

Thanks so much. As always, you are so sweet. One thing I should have thought of is that maybe everyone hasn't seen this American classic, because I am getting some who never did see it. But all in all, I appreciate such lovely comments from the queen of these kind of poems, so thank you again my dear friend.

This is very different for me, as over here we don't carry guns, and have very strict gun control measures, so children would never dream of owning one! So I probably miss the relevance - except that I would fear that he certainly would blow his eye out, or some-one else's! Lol.

Oh Wendy, I can see where you are coming from. And you are so sweet. We do have strict laws that we follow. This is an old American classic. Maybe made in the 1950s and it is about a boy that wants a BB gun. Here, every kid with responsible parents had one. Here in rural MN, if we didn't teach our children respect for guns and proper handling, with hunting, we would be so overpopulated with deer, geese, ducks, turkeys.etc...There would be more people killed from cars running into them at night and it would be such a mess. Not to mention that, it is a proven fact that for at least out in the country here where there is almost 0 crime, teaching these kids to hunt with their dads, and fish, are the reason for 0% crime here in our county anyway. So I know that has nothing to do with this 70 year old classic but I just wanted you to see a different way of looking at it. I even had one as a young girl. Everyone I know did and none of us ever knew anyone that abused them.

Hahaha -- I never got the chance to watch this sitcom, but I did catch a little of it at one point, and your wee poem fits perfectly -- well done! Good luck in the contest. :))

Thanks Dawn, I'm not sure if it was a sitcom or not. I only knew it as an American Classic Movie about a boy who wants the BB gun. Anyway, I knew there would be some that didn't see it, but I do appreciate your kind comments, my sweet friend!
