If Alan think he'd change Ali's mind about him by beating her up he must be touched in the head. What women would ever marry a man who beat her up before they were married. He is a bad one. This is a excellent story. You don't mind letting your characters get hurt.

I've known many women who married a man who hit her before marriage. Alan will get what he deserves, eventually. Thank you for the kind review.

When is Alan going to learn that Ali wants nothing to do with him? I'm glad the dogs were on hand to teach him a lesson. She has grounds now to have him arrested, as he hit her and tried to kidnap her. I hope he gets what's coming to him. Cord surely won't resort to violence toward Alan, but it sounds like he wants to. Ali should have dealt with him instead of running to Texas. Great atmosphere in this with the storm. That always adds to the intensity. judi

Thank you for the kind review. Alan will get what's coming to him. Many abused women run, it's part of the feeling they have no power. Ali needs to learn she does.

You're welcome. There seem to be two sides to Ali. She seems so confident when dealing with her clients and her legal opponents. but she's all emotion and uncertainty when it comes to men. judi

Hello, Barbara,

Wonderful and interesting chapter. Good character development and plot. I wasn't expecting Allan to come back. The picture really matches the story well. I look forward to the next chapter.

Is "slugged" too strong a word? That would suggest she got a fist, which might have kept her down. Slapped might work better?

What a coward Alan is; I'm hoping that Cord takes care of him for Ali.

This chapter has a knight-in-shining-armor feel to it. Really enjoyed reading it.

Next to child abuse, beating someone, or bullying them to manipulate them to Ben to one's will is the meanest thing anyone can do, too many men use this method, there are a number of deaths because of this. There is no excuse, a modern sickness. Beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

OMG! The balls on that guy, beating her like that. You really shocked me with this one. I didn't expect that butt-hole to do that. Another interesting installment, Barbara.

The closer they got, they snarled. [As the dogs drew closer, they snarled.] or something of that nature?

"Thank you. Did you get a piece of him?..." [Ah, this line touched me. I really felt for her.]

I will no longer write reactions on how good you are as a writer and how exceptional your prose pieces are because there is really nothing more I can say. No doubt you are already made as a writer one of the best here at Fan Story. I enjoyed reading the story of Alexandra and Cordero. Six stars won't be enough, I guess.

I guess we have been expecting this for a long time. This guy is a real A-hole for sure. You wonder if he ever really loved Alex, or she was a pawn in his plans to get rich?? Very strong language for an equally strong encounter. I thought they were not leaving her unattended.

They felt she was safe on the ranch. No, Alan never loved her, he just used Ali hoping to be a partner on the firm. Thank you for the kind review.
