I'm glad to see how the animals are involved in this scene with the dogs rescuing Ali and the horses interacting with the people. I wasn't sure why Ali originally headed to the house but then didn't want to explain her injuries. I hope she won't lie to Cord since they have the fight on video. Hope the video will be used in the trial and Ali does press charges!

Well written and fast-moving.
Good tension and a great character portrait of Allen Griffin. He was never in love with Ali, she was a possession and a route to his advancement.
Have known some people like this is real life, scum bags with no conscience, using other people to better themselves.
Come to think of it, we have some elected officials who fit the description.

You started this off with a bang as Alan tries to drag of Alex, and the details of his punching and dragging her, her kicking him, put us right there as witnesses to the struggle. Cord goes after her and finds her, but it is clear here they have a ways to go to be rid of the determined bad guy here. You set the stage for more suspense and created an unsettling mood, an uneven terraine ahead for us to cross...estory

Alan must be psycho case ..to think that Ali would go back if he used force. The chapter was very well written with tension mounting till Ali was found..I know Cord is not going to keep quiet.

I would like greater description of what she felt physically and emotionally from this sudden abuse. We know her hand moved to her face but did it sting? was she surprised, afraid? What thoughts and feelings raced through her mind?
I feel the same with the kissing scene when she was found. I would love to enter their worlds, minds and emotions more to live it and feel it as a reader. Some good bones to work with!

I added she felt the sting to her face. Not sure about the kiss. I think the words cover it since it's during a storm. Thank you for the kind review.

Alan was worse than I expected. You did a great job of mounting the tension with Ali riding off when she was in no condition to do so, the horse coming back without her, and the cameras showing Alan beating her. Since it came so easily to him, I suspect he hurt her like that a few times during their engagement. Excellent job!

This is a tense, suspenseful chapter, Barbara. I wish Alan had fallen down and the dogs had done a better job on him. A bitten leg didn't seem enough, but I know that sooner or later he and Cord will have it out and there will be redemption for Ali. Another great job.
