Nice poem for the contest. A very well-structured poem that explores the limits of our knowledge. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the poem of H.W. Longfellow has a deep meaning on pain and friendship. Your variation is interesting in the fact that it asks the good questions about the poet's mind in penning his verses. However, your rhyme pattern seems cut in each stanza by the line:'I do not know '. Also I believe that the lat verse of Longfellow is the critical climax, and you didn't include it in your variation.
Thanks for your sharing.

I recall that poem. We had to learn it in grade school. I like the adaptation you created from the poem. It is cute, creative, and a delight to read. I wish you worlds of luck in the contest.

A fine literary technique of making an allusion to a well known poem such as Longfellow's. The syllabic count of the Minute is here but the rhyme scheme for the Minute poem is aabb so you might want to consider modifying. Otherwise, I liked your reflection on that poem! Best wishes in the contest!

The directions for the contest say that you do not have to follow the iambic rhyme scheme, so I made up my own. ; ) Thank you very much for your review.

Okay. Good to know. I only knew the aabb format. 💖 It used to be they relaxed the iambic meter but I saw that they also said "rhyme scheme" this time.
