Thank you very much. Adopting a new life style in our 70s should help keep us young!
Comment from Sarah Das Gupta
There is certainly a sense of pleasure and enjoyment in the poem! No doubt this year has seen a great change in your lives! The language and rhythm suggest the year has been fun!

Merry Christmas
Comment from Ginda Simpson
This poem is jolly good fun and a reminder that none of us need to take ourselves (or our writer-selves) too seriously. Enjoy the ride, and be home for Christmas. Happy Holidays.

Merry Christmas

Reese,
Clever little update for the FanStorians. I have to wonder if the "e" in Santa's name was an intentional spelling to refer to yourself as a writer. Your note is as good as the poem! I'm in total agreement with all of it.

Glad you liked it. I certainly appreciate another nice review from you. I have not found the "e" in Santa but I will continue to look.
-
The "e" is in Clause. I think the proper spelling is Claus. Thus my reference to writing.

Reese, thank you for entering this contest. I love that you are following your dreams! I also love that you are spending the kid's inheritances! Merry Christmas, fellow Texan. Good Job. Terry.

Thank you for presenting the opportunity to tell the world how I feel. It was fun to write. BTW, on occasion, we send a picture of the 2 of us, smiling, drinking, gazing out at some great vista in America. We caption it with, "Having a wonderful time in ________ spending y'all's inheritance. Our youngest sometimes answers, "Just wait. I am arranging the cheapest, worst rest home I can find!" Thanks again! "How 'bout dem Cowboys?"

LOL, yes sir, going to the Super Bowl!

I enjoyed reading your amusing piece, and loved the cheerful spirit it captures. Quite an adventurous life you've had and continue to have- really impressive.
(I'm not American or Christian or a golden oldie- haha - but my husband and I have traveled in motor homes around New Zealand and Australia and I have to admit it's the best way to travel!)

Good onya, ma'am! A man's best art is when he makes a lady smile. I traveled often to Kiwi land. There is a place which holds a piece of my heart: Akaroa on the South island. My wife and youngest daughter I enjoyed another area in the middle of the South, but the name escapes me. I traveled Oz from Sydney to
Tazzie, from Melbourne to Perth, Port Hedland, climbed it up to the end of the chain on Uluru. Loved Oz. They are just like us Texans.
Travel safe and tell both NZ and Oz, I still love them and I miss them so.

Your nice note and greetings from somewhere downunder caused me to spend the day down memory lane. Thank you.
In my Portfolio, you will find ?Finally, Australia? which should bring you a laugh or two. It is this Texan?s report of my first trip downunder.
Also, ?All Who Wander Are Not Lost? is my take on the RV life.
Perhaps there will be a rainy day along your way, then find a smile along that mile. Would be honored if y?all would join me. Reese

Wow, Reese, you sure are really well-traveled. I love NZ and OZ both, and NZ, South Island in particular, has my heart though I don't live here.
I will check out your portfolio for your OZ travels as you mentioned. Looking forward to it.
Please do check out my posts too - only 2 so far as I joined FS only earlier this week, and I find I'm playing catch up. ;)

I happen to be married to the world's meanest woman and my to-do list for today is long (since I took yesterday off to eat, drink and watch football). But, I shall look in on your writings this evening. Where is your home base and where are y'all now? Asking for a friend. My wife is from Plymouth, Mass (I married a yankee - I had been drinking...) and I from Austin, Texas. We met in New York City. 45 years of Civil War and 3 daughters.
-
Omg! I just burst into laughter reading your comments above. My husband would say the exact same thing about me -- meanest woman in the world and what-not. But unlike you he doesn't quite follow to-do lists set by the wife - hahaha.
You have such a fun, whacky sense of humor. We are based in Singapore (which is kinda down under compared to the USA) and I've never been to Texas -- only NYC, Seattle, Chicago, Washington DC and College Park, MD.
"45 years of Civil War" -- that's hilarious. I can boast about 21 years of Civil War :) !! It seems to me you're the same age as my father - wow, and you seem to be rather young-spirited and adventurous. So inspiring!

But poems, stories, general baloney, I still got 'em!
(Looking forward to reading more your baloney 'cause it's sounding great to me.)
Love the photo. You're living my dream, so live it in style - lol.
Well done. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. What state are you currently passing through? LateBloomer

Hey, looks like I reached you. Thanks for sharing that. Yes, we are lucky. We did our jobs, raised three daughters and then, bored, decided to run away from home; I'm a Texan so we love to tell stories. We met in New York City, dated off and on for 3 years, then when I got transferred, we decided to get married (I had been drinking). For 45 years, we have cruised America in mini-vans with daughters as we return to her Massachusetts from Texas, but now, via our RV, we've enjoyed our first trip West and just returned from the Ozarks to join family near Houston for the holidays. Plans: Florida in late January, Zion in Arizona in May, Glacier in Montana in July, Mass in August, Vermont in October. We really do send our kids pictures of where we are spending their inheritance. Hope you are not sorry you asked. Have a Bless and Happy Thanksgiving - may you enjoy the love and laughter it can bring.
