This is a beautiful poem for the Christmas contest. Christmas is such a special time, as we remember God loved us enough to come to earth, take upon Himself the form of flesh, that He might redeem us.

A nicely written post Jim, you've done a great job with this, the rhyming is great, I like the hexametric stanzas, the abab rhyming, the accurate look at God surrendering the grandeur of Heaven, to become lowliest of birth, what a saviour, beautifully written, blessings Roy

You and I and perhaps are children were raised at a time when this message was greatly appreciated but I wonder if the grandchildren or great grands will be of a like mind?

Nice poem for the contest. I loved the reference to Away in a Manger in the picture that accompanies the poem. A well-crafted retelling of the birth of Jesus. Well done.

Yes, as so many of us were, we were brought up with this tale of a special child to be born to a humble woman who gave birth in a barn. It's an enticing story indeed. You wrote it very well in your poem. Ulla:)))

You did a beautiful job on this ageless story. I found the soft rhythm comforting. I could see the shafts of light. I liked your spin on this and enjoyed reading it. Gretchen
