Thank you for sharing this, Terry. I especially liked the lines:
"I learned a couple of things from the lady. First, never assume someone will not help. Second, never undervalue the amount of the donation."
We can all find ways to contribute, especially at this time of year. Whether we give a little or a lot, the important thing is to do our part.

I read this out to my husband, it was truly inspiring. The amount given is not the main thing, it's the thought that goes into it. That this lady came to the office and donated her two quarters, was important to her, and the amount was probably a lot. This story is wonderful, and if I was able I'd find that lady and give her a hug. Well done, Terry. This was a lovely story. Sandra xxx

What a great and wise suggestion for charity in this holiday season. Yes. It must be hard to go door to door. It might be easier in 1969. I have been a member of Saint Chamber Orchestra for about 5 years. I find that it's easier to contribute monthly. The amount seems smaller. Then you do the math and it does add up to a larger amount.
Excellent.

Well written powerful and poignant. This story tells us what we need to know as we approach the holidays and give to each other and other organizations who need our help. I give what I can just like that anonymous lady who gave two quarters to the cancer prevention society.
Thanks for teaching a valuable lesson.

Hello Terry,
Well said. Of course it reminded a handful of us of the widow's mite that Jesus mentioned. Giving has a way of coming back to the giver. The law of sowing and reaping. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed evening.

This text reminds me of the Bible, especially New Testament.
I like both the story, the message it conveys and the way is was written.
Thank you for a great text :)

Joanna, it is similar to the story of the two mites. In this case, two quarters, and a story that has been repeated many times for centuries. Thank you for reading. Terry.

This was fascinating writing with good life lessons.
"If you see a need, try to meet it. If you only help a little, you have helped a lot." [Thank you for this quote. I was already distraught over JFK and MLK's assassinations as a teenager. I never watched Bobby Kennedy's funeral. I'm glad he said this.]

Amahra, thank you. I paraphrased what Ted Kennedy said...He actually said, "If he saw a wrong, the tried to right it." It was Ted's best speech of his life. Terry.

Beautiful thoughts are shared within this story. Giving comes in all sizes and sometime the smallest package may cost the person more than anyone will ever know. The fact is that giving is a gift of love and should be appreciated by everyone no matter the size.
Hugs, Carol

This story reminds me of the one in the Bible of the woman who gave only a few coins, but she gave all she had. This was interesting and worth telling, Terry. Thanks for sharing this. Nancy:)

This was a great story. My mail box is pretty full of requests for money. I wish that I could help them all, but I can't. I do have some favorites! Thank you for the reminder to help people less fortunate than me. Sarah
