You expressed a wonderful feeling, author. :) Many nurses, medics as well as doctors gave their all for those combat soldiers in the field. I'm proud to read your poem soldier. Thank you for your service, may you have many more poems to share. This is a very good entry for the Gratitude Expressed in a poem contest.

Sometimes six stars is not enough, and this poem provides proof of that belief. In all probability there were many nurses like this Grace and they all cared for and looked after the wounded soldiers. A special thank you to every one of them. Like those soldiers, you nurses will always be our war heroes. Beautifully written.

Defeat and victory are obvious by products of any war for that matter. But what's beautiful in war (the adjective may not be appropriate) is the fact that heroes are born in all kinds of war. Nurse Grace in her own way is a WWII heroine. She deserved a poem written in her honor. Thanks for sharing.

very powerful and moving poem to an unsung heroine. The nurses who took care of wounded soldiers around the world. Quite a few of those nurses ended up marrying the soldiers that they took care of. In the Vietnam war many of the Nurses were Korean and Filipinos. Many of the Vietnam era "war Brides" were Korean or Filipino. Not too much is written about this little know factoid. Might inspire a poem or not.

Thanks, Jake. Maybe there is a poem about war brides. We'll see.

I do so wish I had a six. If this poem wasn't beautifully haunting in its own right, the author notes surely put it over the top. I loved that this was based on a real person. The description of each person she attended to and the songs that eased their transition were beautifully written. This had such a folklore feel to it. Well done. Gretchen

This is an absolute beautiful poem to enter into the gratitude contest. The message is clear and strong of her healing touch and songs. The rhyme scheme is on point. I wish only that the text was a bit larger. Maybe one size larger. With longer poem you will attract more readers if the text is large. Your visual and comments in the AN add to the richness of her story. This is so well-written. I will remember this poem.

What a wonderful tribute to a godly soul who used her God given talent to comfort dying and wounded soldier. God told me sometime ago, that I was to use my gifts to bless others with, to be generous, as God is generous to me, beautifully written, articulate, great flow and theme, in abcb rhyme, well done, blessing and good luck, Roy
