Bill, I don't "get" science fiction, but I like this story. The ending was great. (Is that true I. Your author's notes about computer glitches? I like the irony it poses: your computer, the precursor to the robot, breakers down while you're writing a story about robots.
To me your writing is avant- garde. It's unusual, but creative.
Keep writing, Bill.
Good luck.
Blessings,
Cindy

Well, Robot, disappeared into the ether and that was the end for him and his namesake. We will now never know what could have been. Such a shame. I'm sorry I came so late into this but you now know why..too much has been going on in my life of late. Ulla;)))

One more to wrap it up I guess.

That will be good. I'm looking forward to it.

Umm, I am lost. The two robots are named "Robot"? But I like that ending, so it makes me wonder what the other one was...
As for your glitches, you have my sympathies -- been there, done that, many times over and it is (to say the least) maddening!

Robots is the fourth in a series. You will note there are links to the previous three: Robot Saves the Day, Robot Paves the Way, Robot on the Ground, and Robots.
-
Oops -- sorry. didn't read the notes.
-
Nope -- no links, except the ones that belong to chapters (at the top, to indicate) when it's a book.
-
It is a book of mostly unrelated poems and prose; however, the last five entries are of this story. : )

I read the other two Robot stories and hoped this was the end, but the robot and survivor are too intermixed in this last one to know what is happening.

Hi Bill,
It is sad when work is presented but not read to gain a following.
I must admit robots are sometimes a difficult concept to sell although they permeate our daily lives in so many ways.
Whilst the dialogue is clear and tells a story a barrage of dialogue can sometimes be too much but it is impossible to cater to all tastes.
Goodbye robot.
Blessings

Clever ending with the robot using "Go with God," the same words said to the robot. I think that it can be interrupted in different ways. A reader can see it as a mechanical repeat of the words, a deeper meaning perhaps? Interesting

The Robot is now saying what he questioned before. "Go with God." If the robots are about to disassemble themselves, I wander if there is a reason for the release of the genetic material. Will it be reused to create a person?
I need to keep reading.

Oh, bummer... did people not like your computer-generated creation story?? I was kind of just getting into it. Sometimes it takes a couple of chapters to get a book going you know. Sometimes you just have to stick with something. Maybe the computers generated a different sort of world than the one we live in... who knows?
I suppose now, we never will.

A classic farewell. Reminds me of the old R&B standard by the vocal group the Drifters Vaya Con Dios, it is said that this is the song where Dionne Warwick was discovered singing in the background. They say her voice stood out so starkly among all the other background singers that the sons creators, Burt Bacharach and Hal David wanted to know who it was. They had her try a song they had recently wrote, and the rest as they say is history.

The language might be too complicated for the average FS. (which speaks well for me, I guess) Now I asked, what kind of genetic material would robots have? If any, it would be unlimited intelligence and that would be a good thing.

One might assume the material was stored within.
