What wonderful memories! I am so glad that you wrote these down and it made you bilingual as some of those Norwegian words probably stayed with you, even on an unconscious level. How fun that you were part of their everyday lives and you got to learn from your grandparents! Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks so much for your review. You keep me going here. It is so crazy but I can remember events way back to when I was 2 and 3 years of age. Guess good memories stick.

Like your story about your Norwegian heritage. I am also Norwegian and am proud every day of my nationality. I have never spoken a word of Norwegian other than some Norwegian delicacies which I learned. Glad that you learned English tho!

You probably remember Krumkaka, Lefse, Fatigman and maybe Yulekaka. Yay to Norwegian heritage. Thanks for reviewing.

You describe a magical time when you were three, with a great set of grandparents; it seems like it was a time of unstinting praise and encouragement. Reading this sent my fingers itching to write the chapter in my family memoirs of when my daughter was three - such itches always indicate to me I am reading excellent writing. Kate xx

This is a lovely tribute to your grandparents. I bet it was hard to change from the language you first learned to speak. Your story is well-executed and interesting. I wish you tons of luck in the contest.

Thanks for your kind review. What I remember is adults whispering back and forth secrets like presents for someone's birthday and my saying "oh, a bicycle" or something similar. It was hard because I knew both languages by then. Eventually the Norwegian faded out.

I loved reading your post about your grandparents and your love and admiration for them. And they loved you! Being a grandparent is the best part of who I am. Just love them and spoil them is my motto. Well written. Good luck with the contest. Sarah

In the phrase "my Father," "father" does not need to be capitalized. It does need a comma after it, though. Toward the end you say "In English means sloppy girl." You need to add "it" after "English" and put quotes around "sloppy girl."
I enjoyed reading about your adventures with your grandparents.
Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thanks for reviewing. Every generation spoils their grandkids. I know I sure follow suit. Mine are as spoiled as I was in the day. Isn't it fun though? We have earned it.
