Why do the terms and observations made by Robby the robot in "Lost in Space" to Will Robinson and Dr. Smith, "that does not compute" said the robot, I loved this post, with its tongue in cheek narrative, well done, blessings Roy

Your scientific description of what the scientists are doing sounds like it might be a real project, which is a good bit of writing. So, this is the story before Robot on the Ground. Well-written and interesting.

Probably, to these creatures, wishing a robot luck would be about as incomprehensible as telling it to go with God.
Good story. Nicely written.
Best wishes.

Robots are born from the minds of man. "Go with God," to a robot. I took that to mean die. Good thing you explained it. I doubt a robot would understand that command. But you could teach it to remember anything. I suppose. You're smart to be interested in all that and big words too. That's some interesting storytelling. Nicely done. Good.

Robots have subroutines which trigger off traceable and untraceable cues.

I wondered when you used the word 'God' if Robot would comprehend. Prior to that, the story brims with four and five syllable terms that stretch my imagination in keeping with the theme. An interesting story, Bill.

There is a chasm of intellect between human beings and artificial intelligence. Seed words by programmers may be innocuous or loaded.

I didn't know where this was going and to be frank I'm not into science fiction, but I love the way it's written, your dialogues and also the ending.
Very intelligent and food for thought.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Heather, for giving this a look. I've a book set up to collect these types of stories. It's called "Random Rhymes and Petty Prose". The first story in this series, "Robot Saves the Day" is in there along with this one. Do you know how to search others' portfolios?

Yes, I do. If I have time I?ll have a look, but I?ve gone back to work after my sick leave and it seems the only thing I do is work. Even at the weekend.

I expect FM's face meant that to tell a robot to 'go with God' was a bit over the top, but why? God helped man create things. Now we have Robot going to Earth to try and find life underground. This is going to be a wonderful story, Bill. Well done!! :)) Sandra xx

I feel like there is some deeper meaning that has slipped through. Interesting that WM may have some faith but doesn't want to be found out by his colleague. Even Robot dismissed the good luck wishes. But I wonder why there is no life form scanned on Earth. Will Robot's personal arrival help to find life forms? Will this be continued in another chapter?

That's funny, Bill... I'm still laughing. That the robot won't take luck but will 'go with God' to go play God is just too much. That FM thinks that MW might be going round the bend is funny too. lol
Have a good night, Bill.

Rather than wishing the robot luck, it was far more fitting to say go with God, as to fix the Earth they way it needed fixing, it would take the power of a god to accomplish this most difficult of tasks.

It is tough for creators to believe their creations don't think like them.
